never been to such restaurant. Worst ever!!we want to order 2 drinks and 3 Menus (one of the dish was whole knuckle to share which costs 54€, others cost around 25-30€ per dish). They kicked us out!! because they said, everyone has to order minimum one drink per person, because they get their money from drinks, so if people doesn’t order drinks, the restaurant wouldn’t exist. (so the food is free or what??) I couldn‘t believe it, I asked twice in German, so it was not a miscommunication. I told them I will also order foods, but they didn‘t bother to know what we will order. If you don‘t drink, you cannot stay. It’s not a restaurant where people get to eat, they just want to rip you off with expensive drinks and hope that you will sit there hours getting drunk and keep ordering beers. They have to write a big sign in front of the restaurant, if they have this rule. So people wouldn‘t bother to go in.

I was there with 2 kids who are not feeling well, and 2 old people who have had snacks along the christmas market, so we just want to order our food and some Apfelschorle. I hate to ruin someone else‘s business but need to warn people, we had to experience this on a sunny day during christmas time, which made our trip to Munich less enjoyable. I experienced this, so you don‘t have to. We are Asian living on the other part of Germany, so I know this is not normal. Our local restaurants, and other restaurants we‘ve been to, always welcome people with smile, no matter what they order. Maybe the don‘t like Asian, who knows. This behavior is just...

My friend and I had walked past this restaurant a few times, always tempted by the sight of pork knuckles roasting in the window—it looked absolutely mouthwatering. After checking out some glowing reviews online (alongside a few complaints about service towards foreigners), we decided to give it a try.

We managed to snag a very last-minute reservation, which I definitely recommend doing. The place gets packed, and without a booking, you’ll likely be stuck waiting in a long line with no guarantee of getting a table.

We started with the asparagus soup—creamy, but unfortunately a bit too salty for my taste. The asparagus salad, on the other hand, was refreshing and well-balanced. For the main event, we shared half a pork knuckle and a quarter crispy duck. The pork knuckle was flavorful, though again, a bit on the salty side. The skin was the highlight—perfectly crunchy and satisfying. The duck, however, was a letdown—dry and lacking the crispiness promised by the name, even with the sauce. I wouldn’t recommend ordering it.

Service was okay but not without its flaws. At one point, the waiter seemed to zone out mid-conversation, and my friend had to repeat her question. We had specifically asked for the pork knuckle to be sliced rather than served whole for easier sharing, but they brought the whole knuckle anyway. Not a huge deal, but worth mentioning.

Despite a few hiccups, the pork knuckle alone makes it worth a visit. Just be sure to book ahead—and...

The waiter was super rude from the get-go. Before we ordered food, he asked us what we wanted to drink. We ordered a glass of beer and a bottle of water. He wrote it down and he left with a sarcastic smirk. He came back with 4 beer mats, which he threw on the table in a showy manner, along with our drinks. After seeing this, we should have left but we ordered the "sausages dish" (5 little sausages and boiled cabbage) and the pork ribs dish. The former was below average. The latter was just average, but certainly not worth 30 euros. When we asked for the check, he didn't bring a receipt so we politely asked for it. He still didn't bring us a receipt and suggested we add a tip as well. Despite the horrendous service, we told him to keep 1 euro and his answer was a sarcastic "wow". I don't normally leave one-star reviews, but I will this time knowing I might prevent somebody else from getting such terrible service. PS My fiancé went to the restroom and the cleaner told him something in German which he didn't understand. (We can see from other reviews now that she was probably asking him for tips, but this is just speculation and may...

We had few beers and whole pork knuckle for sharing. The food was overall good, meat was bit dry but the sides were quite nice as well as beers. The only let down was we were offered to share bar table with two strangers which was not the best experience as those two people were kept staring at us. The worst part was when we were paying, we didn’t choose to pay tips and the waiter immediately asked “That’s no tip you chose, are you sure. You didn’t like our service?” And we said we didn’t think we were treated for any extra service that night that deserves tips, and he aggressively refuted “In Germany, you pay tips if service is good. If you don’t pay tips, you are saying our service is bad.” We told him, “Whether to pay tips is our decision, and it’s not fair that you force us to pay tips by saying things like this. We enjoyed food but didn’t think it was superb” Then he goes like “No no that’s not the case in Germany. Where are you from?” And he goes on about why not paying tips if food and service was good. It pretty much ruined our evening.

Want meat? You don't have to be starving to enjoy the food here, but based on the portions of meat, it helps. The pork knuckles are cooked on a rotisserie until reaching that perfect point where the meat is jussy and the skin is crisp. I had the 1/2 Knuckle of Pork with a potato dumpling, served with a beer reduction for 22€, and wow was it delicious. My wife had the Portion of Pork Knuckle, which was less meat but more balanced with mashed potato and sauerkraut for 20€. Service is fast but it doesn't hurt to actively get your waiter's attention. A take-out window looks into the kitchen where you can see the pork knuckles roasting on the spit. Update. Ate here a week later at 5pm and ordered the same things. This time the beer was well below the 0.5l minimum line and the pork knuckle was very dry and over-cooked. So sad. The service was still quick and the potato and saurkraut were both creamy and smooth and excellent.
