Miserable wasteful experience. The website homepage does not provide any information about shows or timings but directs you to subscribe to a newsletter for the crucial showtimes and opening times information. Upon subscribing one must then wait an unspecified amount of time for the next newsletter to receive this pertinent information. So forget about trying to go on the same day or until you receive the newsletter which when you subscribe you have no way of knowing when that may be.
The website also provides a phone number to call for info which in turn has a recording that tells you timings. As per the recording the bar is open on Saturday so after first visiting the website, then subscribing to a newsletter and calling the number, we proceeded across the city to the bar on Saturday evening only to find a paper posted on the door stating the bar is closed for several days! Absolutely waste of an evening to what seems is a secret establishment with wisps of incorrect information scattered across various sources. If you’re looking for an mystery/escape room style experience with scattered clues and challenges then this one’s for free. If you’re looking for a jazz bar to go to for a nice evening then be prepared.
Edit and respond to the establishment: thanks for your response. Now having gone through all the pages on your website and ignoring the homepage which directs one to subscribe to newsletter for info, I see on the third page at the bottom there is a nice about closing. However having the closing period on a further page within the website when the homepage tells you to subscribe for the vital information as it is not on the website and telephone recording tells you it’s open is very contradictory. If the venue is closed what you should do is have that pertinent information on your homepage, rather than a homepage that tells you to subscribe to a newsletter for this information as well as have your recording state first that the establishment is closed till certain date. That fact that I have to explain this simple matter , and you state you don’t know what else to do because you mentioned on a third link of your website that it’s closed but one would never get to that page because the homepage says the information is in a newsletter and not on the website is a bit chicken and egg. So since you say you don’t know what to do here’s a suggestion: State the opening timings/days and any holiday info on the homepage. Update the telephone recording to say the establishment is closed rather than tell people it’s open when it isn’t. Really...
Read moreI believe Vogler Jazzbar was once a special place that brought together people who love underground jazz and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, my recent experience left me feeling that the focus has shifted toward seeing guests only as paying customers and not ensuring their comfort and enjoyment. The service was disappointing. Our waitress seemed inattentive from the start. we waited around 15 minutes just to place our order and another 20 minutes to receive it(the order was store bought chips and sauces). Couple of times, her behavior felt inconsiderate, such as placing her tray on our table while unloading it for another group, or moving my bag from my boyfriend’s chair (while he was away) in order to seat someone else there without asking.
Regarding the jazz evening, the singer we came to hear was unwell and performed only 3-4 songs, with the rest of the evening being instrumental. While I understand illness can happen, it would have been considerate to inform guests beforehand. Despite the limited performance, the singer still came around with a bowl requesting donations.
To end the evening, just two minutes after we paid, we were asked to leave so our table could be given to other guests, even though we were still finishing our food.
Overall, this experience was disappointing, especially since we had planned to celebrate special event and expected a warm, memorable evening. Sadly, I did not feel valued as a guest, and I am not willing to return or support this...
Read moreMe and my spouse visited Vogler's jazzbar on a Saturday evening. We were greeted and welcomed politely by the staff and were shown to free places for us to sit. We chose the bar.
The lighting, large wooden bar/counter and drink prep setting contributed to a nice atmosphere, although the 2 giant bouquets of lilium gave off an excessively "heavy" smell for our taste. The band and their predominately latin music were decent and nostalgic, even though we personally were in a mood for something different that night.
The staff behind the bar and the overall service was professional, fast, very clean and knowledgeable. We nevertheless felt that the interaction with us a bit distant and/or perhaps ironic at times (even though this may very easily have been a misinterpretation during an increasingly busy peak time on a Saturday evening). Our drinks were pure and tasty and the cocktails well prepared, as were the nuts and nachos we ordered as extras.
We left the bar with a feeling of slight disappointment and spontaneously granted it with a 2-star review (which I am hereby revising), but that was perhaps due to an unfortunate combination of coincidences, misunderstandings and uninformed...
