If you’ve ever had a proper English breakfast, you’ll be very disappointed. Everything is so insanely overpriced and the portions are the tiniest I’ve ever seen.
The English breakfast (called St. James) is nothing like an authentic English breakfast, it consists of literally two tbsp of baked beans (they’re not good either), American style bacon, sausages that have nothing to do with English sausages, very few tiny little bits of mushrooms and cherry tomatoes and toast (you can’t choose white or brown bread). The Eggs Benedict was nice and an ok portion size but that came at the cost of 25€ (!).
The tea came with neither a timer/hourglass nor a plate to put the tea after you take it out of the pot. The fresh orange juice was not fresh orange juice but instead regular orange juice with pulp but came at the price of a fresh orange juice. The table was reserved only for 1h and 20 min and the place was so cramped you couldn’t move between the tables at all and it was so loud in there it was just uncomfortable. My partner‘s food came 10-15 min later than mine so when we both had our food mine was only lukewarm.
The only positive thing was the friendly tall waiter. The manager at the entrance was rather rude and not very welcoming. Needless to say I won’t come here again and I hope I can prevent others from being as disappointed as I was. If you want to have some nice scones and tea I recommend you go to their Brown‘s Tea Bar in...
Read moreThe store manager would rather kick a sleeping baby out in the rain than break his precious “policy”. To say we were disappointed by the service at the Victorian House would be an understatement . We called weeks in advance to book a table, clearly mentioning there would be a baby with us. We arrived with the baby and his stroller, sat and gave our orders. Later I went outside so my baby would fall asleep while walking in the stroller and when I came back I was told that the stroller would not be able to enter the restaurant and to take my baby out of it or else I would be asked to leave. We were literally kicked out in the rain with the excuse that there would be no space for the stroller, although we had arranged our table for it to fit. The store manager told us this is the policy, a policy which we had not been made aware of neither at the time of the reservation when we clearly stated we were coming with a baby nor at the time of our arrival, only after having ordered and had our entire party sat. The behaviour felt extremely discriminatory, thoughtless and in total unacceptable. Had we known of the policy we would have respected it and booked elsewhere. This incident was unacceptable and...
Read moreOnce upon a time it was a delightful restaurant in Munich called Victorian House...
For my husband's birthday I wanted to spoil him again with a romantic, sophisticated and fine brunch at the Victorian House.
WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT !!!
My experience: -I wrote an email with a table reservation request and clicked that it was my husband's birthday. As we arrived at the restaurant, no one knew! The waiter shrug of the shoulders and all he said was :
-The distance between the tables is so small that you can hardly have a conversation, especially when the neighbour has a loud voice! Very romantic!
-The food was YUCK !!! 🤢
-NOTHING left of what the Victorian House used to be! NO fine bone China, NO beautiful etagere for the scones NO nice bowls for jam and cottage cheese!!!
Today, the Victorian House favorize PLASTIC RUBISH !!!
When you have been going / enjoying a place for over a decade it’s disappointing to discover that now, it has more a fast-food feeling as stated on their homepage with...
