My recent experience at TiVu, a Vietnamese-fusion restaurant just a stone's throw from Gärtnerplatz and the Viktualienmarkt, was truly delightful. I went with the "Chef's Choice" menu, priced at an excellent €50 per person (group of two). This offered a fantastic array of eight small, shareable dishes that showcased a creative blend of flavours. The menu takes you on a nice tapas style journey as you move from starters, to fish, meat and of course a dessert. For those interested, the €39 wine pairing is a nice accompanyment, providing four thoughtfully selected glasses that perfectly complemented each stage of the meal.
The service was spot on, striking a perfect balance between attentiveness and allowing us to enjoy our conversation without feeling rushed. The restaurant's aesthetic is a lovely minimalist design, with thoughtful touches like the muted décor and unique earthen plate ware that truly elevate the dining experience. While the ambiance felt like a top-tier establishment, it's worth noting that the sparse furnishings might lead to a slightly louder atmosphere when the restaurant is busier.
Overall, TiVu offers a fantastic culinary experience at a great value. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for delicious and innovative Vietnamese-fusion cuisine in a...
Read moreI am never a fan of set menus but the waiter really encouraged us to have the chef’s tasting menu at 55 euros a person. He said this was the best option and there would be 10 courses to share between 2. I was struggling to see how this would be the best option given each dish was between 8 and 12 euros so the total cost of 10 dishes would have been around the same price and we could have made our own choice. But I assumed there would be some special dishes in this 10 course menu. Firstly the portions were very small. I appreciate this is tapas style but they were not even enough for two to try. You often just had one taste of a dish. Of the 10 dishes, one was rice, one was a small salad and one was a small scoop of sorbet. We left feeling very hungry and annoyed that we had been encouraged to have the set menu which was very poor value...
Read moreIt is completely contrary to your imagination:
By visiting their Website and menu I thought it is a sophisticated restaurant, but it turns out to a noisy and crowded place.
It is well-decorated and -furnished, and the tableware is also carefully selected. All that made up my mind that it shall be at least not a causal place. But it is club-like, you have to speak loudly to ensure your partner can catch your words...
Thought it is €€, actually €€€. We spent 90€ for two (didn't order a bottle of wine) not get full. We ate then two Brezels with Obatzda afterwards.
Does Vietnamese really eat that sweet? We ordered various dishes, including duck rolls, water spinach , baby ribs, green pepper beef, pork belly, and ginger prawns, as well as a bowl of rice. Besides the rice, they all very sweet. If you do concern "Sugar",...
