They are back and back with STYLE. New central location (Frauenstr. 11) Undoubtedly, the real Indian food compared to any other pretentious Indian restaurant in Munich. I was there on the very first day, I also provided Manav and Prateek my feedback. So they know they still have a scope for improvement. I ordered Golgappe, Ginger Lemondade, Lachchha Paratha and Chole masala (was served with rice) costed me around 29 Euros. To be frank the portions were big enough to share in 2 :) What I liked: 10/10 for the Food quality and the way it was served. Home made Golgappe (Not bought from the store), Delhi style Chhole and Fresh lemonade (not the one mixed with Sprite)as in many other restaurants. Lachchha paratha served was made of white flour (Maida), I don't know if it was a mis communication with the waiter. Spacious, Nice decor, improved menu options + cocktails. Better opening times, Late night on the weekends, and most importantly the AUTHENTIC INDIAN TASTE. The taste which will make you forget that you are in Munich. Well with all that said there are some drawbacks or scope for improvement: Menu got bit pricey as it has become more like a fine dining close to the city centre. They have a non-Indian staff / Partner, so here you miss the connection with the restaurant which was the key in the old place. Which also causes sometimes Miss communication with the menu order and delivery sequence. Like getting a Naan in place of whole wheat lachchha paratha or chaat and main dishes together. Dishes were not given after the food was kept on the table. As I was alone I could eat directly but I also saw this on the neighbouring table that they had to explicitly ask for the dishes. (So not sure it was a first day malfunctions) Overall, the place stands out with the ambience and the taste which will make us feel in any cosmo city of India. But as it has become fine dining and bit pricier would be ideal for groups and couples but not for the solo eater. Madam Chutney, this review is as from the honest admirer of you and not to put you down. I really appreciate the efforts you are taking, specially when restaurant was not your core business and your honest efforts to bring the real Indian taste to Munich. You are doing a great job and congratulations for the new innings. Wish you ALL THE BEST and keep up the good work. I went for dinner with a friend on a Thursday night after having received a few recommendations. I would love to be more positive but the entire experience was disappointing, neither food nor service were satisfying hence I personally cannot recommend Madam Chutney. Here comes my constructive feedback as a Local Guide to you as a customer and the owner/management.🙂 What was great: ✅ Modern design and decoration, which is a highlight. ✅ Three different seating areas. We had the possibility to move to a smaller, more quiet area. ✅ Portion sizes were great and food was more than enough. What can be improved: ↗️Simplify menu and make it more customer friendly (less content, bigger font). Currently it’s very confusing and slightly overwhelming. It would be great to clearly mark vegan dishes on the menu. ↗️It really is ALL about the service. Don’t make customers wait too long to serve drinks. Empty dishes should be picked up earlier and not let it sit on table for over 15 min. Better Coordinate table changes between service personnel. Say thank you for tip.😉 ↗️Adjust spices on non-spicy dishes. I had the chickpea curry and it was super hot 🔥 ↗️Better isolation of walls to dim the noise. Even the smaller restaurant area was fairly noisy, not even to mention the main area. To sum it up, not the best culinary experience- neither food nor service hence I cannot recommend Madam Chutney. Having said that, it’s always worth trying it out. February 2024

The interior is designed beautifully creating a great atmosphere for sitting and eating for a long time. The waiters were really friendly and helped us with ordering; the only thing that bothered me was that they wanted to take the dishes too fast after each meal. We ordered the homemade drinks, the ginger lemonade which was really refreshing and the rose and mango lassy. The rose lassy specifically was something nice and different although I won't order it with food since can be a little heavy. We ordered the paapri chat as started which was tasty. The only issue was that it was really cold. May be it's the actual way of serving it, but I definitely preferred a warm starter. We got the butter chicken and the grilled chicken (don't remember the name) for the main, which both were absolutely delicious. The butter chicken was a little bit hot, but since I like spicy food that was fine for me. The grilled chicken was quite pricy for the amount of food with no side which was unexpected. For dessert we had the falooda which was an interesting dessert. I cannot eat a whole portion since it was so heavy. Overall, I really enjoyed the service, food and atmosphere. It is a little pricy though, but if I want to have good Indian food I would definitely get back to this place.

A search for Indian restaurants near Marienplatz directed us to Madam Chutney with the promise of a great Indian lunch. The venue itself is quite nice, distinctive from the outside and the interior decor is modern and tasteful. We ordered a couple of lunch bowls and some sundries. The food itself was OK. It certainly had flavour but for me, the use of a particular ingredient/spice ("khatai" which adds a touch of sourness where needed) was a bit too much for my palette. This was in the egg curry thali and the Baingan Bharta. I love baingan bharta but found their version very hard to eat. On the bright side their Pani Puri was excellent, and the Paneer Thali was good as well as was the presentation of all the dishes. The staff on the other hand were quite inattentive, there was no one on the restaurant floor when we arrived and had to wait a couple of minutes to be seated. It wasn't busy at all, only a few other tables were in use. Similarly, during our meal, it was hard to find someone to add to our order or even to fetch the bill. To be clear no one was at all rude, just not attentive.

After looking at the positive reviews and ratings we thought of trying out this Indian restaurant. Unfortunately, everything didn't go as expected. Positive : we ordered the mango lassi and it was the best till date, also liked the papri chaat. Negatives: we had ordered chana bhatura which took ages to be served. When the food arrived, the dish was not at all fresh. The chana was cold and the bhatura was completely flat and just warm. When we informed the staff about this, they didn't bother to say or ask anything and then after 5 minutes they came back with fresh bhatura but again the chana was much worse than before. We could have managed with everything, if they had served the dish as good as their price. The cost of the dish was way overpriced considering the quality and the quantity. Having heard good things about this place, the experience was very disappointing. It seemed the order was deliberately delayed, I am not sure why. Not going back again!
