Excellent spot for local Bavarian dishes. I was so excited that they had so many options for chanterelle dishes during mushroom season. Very delicious and perfect! They also have chanterelle w pasta, as mains, as you can add on supplement main at a smaller cost ex. The beef fillet supplement was 23 and fish was 19 euros. I splurged on the getting the salad and also a main - the veal meatballs - which were delicious! Loved the pickled and potato “salad” it balanced out the whole meal. My partner ordered the schnitzel and said it was great with the berry jam. I did not enjoy it - thought the pork had a little too much pork flavor and too much butter. We shared the Bavarian cream which was also excellent and well balanced. An SA recommended this place and it did not disappoint - he also said he loved the beef in consommé which we did not try but will have to come back for!

Dont order your main meal right away if you want to sip on your beverage and relax for more than 5 mins. Your plates of food will be whisked out to you and plopped down in front of you immediately. We were not expecting this type of run and drop service for our evening meal. We didn't see our server again until we finished eating; he then asked us how everything was tasting. Luckily, we had no problems with the food. It was delicious. We had the roast duck, the crispy roast pork, and shared an apple strudel for dessert. The ambiance of the lower floor restaurant could be nice, but it's chaotic and jam-packed of tables and people. While the waiters run around frantically. At this price point, we were expecting a calm dinner at the end of a long day. This place did not deliver on that. Come for lunch.

Unfortunately we haven’t had a good experience in this restaurant that was so recommended - tourist trap.. We went for lunch on a Tuesday and it was quite empty, with few tables in the front area of the internal part of restaurant however they put us on the last part of it where there was no one and it was not as beautiful as other parts. Ok… Food was ok and pricey compared to other places. Arrived like in 5 minutes.. we were surprised in a bad way on how quick it was.. ok… Waiter Daniel brought some pretzel for our table, we taught it as a courtesy and had some. It was charged (they could ask before if we wanted but ok..), we paid and taught it was for the whole portion.. after paying the bill my husband got another piece of pretzel and was immediately informed that he had to pay an extra 2.9 euro for that one.. ridiculous. We have eaten much better food, with much better price and service we cannot even compare. We had wonderful experience in Bavaria and it was disappoint to have our last experience in this restaurant. Hope this unsolicited feedback helps you to improve customer’s experience.

Würden wir nochmals privat hier her kommen?

Location: it is direct opposite of the opera house. You can take U-Bahn, or park the car at the garage which is under opera house. (5) Environment: they have inside, outside and upstairs area. If the sunshine is shining. It is very nice to sit outside and enjoy the street view. The ground floor is also fine but usually busy and a bit dark, the 1st floor is indeed bright, nice with big windows. Highly recommend (5) Food: it offers typical German food and I think there is nothing to complain about. Coffee is good, the dessert I like it too. (4.5) Service: the stuffs usually nice and friendly. It is better to go with reservation during the rush hours. (4.5) Price: normal price for a decent German restaurant. (4.5) Overall: 4.7 I am a regular

As someone who has lived in Munich for 5 years and comes back to the city regularly, I can definitely say this is one of the best traditional restaurants in the city and nothing close to the numerous tourist traps around Marienplatz or Stachus. If you’re looking for a traditional Bavarian meal with a bit of an upper class feel without it being “too much”, this is exactly the place for you. I’d highly recommend the upper floor, simply for the atmosphere - I’ve had various dishes here, but the pictured „Hirschrücken“ (Deer) was stunning and prepared to perfection. Paired with a German red wine, this was the perfect pre-Christmas dinner!
