HerR Restaurant — Restaurant in Rothenburg ob der Tauber

When researching dinner options in Rothenburg we were pleased to find that one of the top rated restaurants was in our hotel. We made reservations in advance (smart since it’s a small space). It’s a 5 course tasting menu, and we added the wine pairing. Filip was a wonderful host, you could feel the pride he had with each dish & wine pairing. This made us feel like we were dining with friends. The meal was fantastic. Two raw courses (shrimp and wagyu beef), a seafood course (hake with crispy skin), meat course (quite possibly the best duck I’ve ever had) and dessert. We thought it was a really strong menu that focused on local ingredients, giving us some new experiences and some familiar flavors in new ways. The wine pairing was also particularly strong. Me and my friend had an amazing experience in the Restaurant HerR last night. We enjoyed an exquisite customised 4-Course Menu prepared by the well experienced Chef Sascha Bungeroth. We have noticed his passion for cooking in each Course, as each of them was unique and full of flavour! Besides the excellent food, there was Filip, the one who hosted us and made sure we have a wonderful time and experience. He was attentive but not overly intrusive, wich is a very important aspect in having a successful evening! He explained to us each Course in such a way that we were both of us mesmerised by the way these two guys, Filip and Sascha, are running this restaurant. We recently attended a friend’s wedding in the Champagne region of France, and the German restaurant that catered the event completely blew us away. From the moment the meal began, it was clear that this team takes immense pride in their craft.

The food was absolutely outstanding—authentic, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Each dish was a perfect balance of comfort and sophistication.

Filip and his team were warm, professional, and genuinely attentive, creating such a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. You could tell they cared deeply about making the experience seamless and special for everyone. The chef’s passion came through in every bite, and the service was flawless from start to finish.
