I have been living in Stuttgart for the last five months as an exchange student, and I have tried almost every single Mexican restaurant this city has to offer. I’m used to a good deal of Texmex or authentic Mexican food, and Joe Peñas was what I was looking for. Me and my friends went to celebrate my twenty first birthday so we went all out for the food. We all got drinks at the restaurant, the Joes Margarita is fantastic and I heavily recommend it to anyone that stops by, we also shared the chips and dip. While the cheddar cheese dip was only okay, every other dip was fantastic. It was a Tuesday so I ordered from the taco menu and got the LA tacos, they were so good I couldn’t even stop to take a picture of them before I started eating. The atmosphere at the restaurant was fantastic and the staff was always there when we needed them.

Visited on 13 Sep 2023 @ 1830 - Pro: It is a good restaurant with great food and Prices. -- Food has some spice, so if that's what you like, this is the place to go; it all had some bang, and the taste was great. -- Drinks: They have a vast selection of drinks; I mean a lot. It reminds me of the restaurant On the Border from the USA. -- Parking is plentiful for a small fee, and you can park right out front. -- Service was fast once the staff came to the table, and food was on the table in less than 10, which is very fast for Germany. - Con: Staff slow to come to the table; no slower than any German average restaurant

This place does not serve Mexican/Tex Mex food. As someone that lived very close to the Mexico border for years, this is most definitely not Mexican or southwestern cuisine, not even close. The funny thing is, the food actually isn't bad, it's just in no way Mexican. The chorizo appetizer was fine, and the chimichanga (definitely didn't taste or look like a chimichanga), also tasted good too, but all the sides were bland, and they have zero salsas or Mexican hot sauces to add. The salad side came in a tortilla that was gross, it tasted completely stale. The employees overall were nice, and the food service was fast , I'll give them credit. I know I won't come back here again if I want to eat Mexican food, but I'm not opposed to coming back.

Excellent. They did happy hour all night long. Staff speaks English. It's not the Mexican like back in the Americas, but here in Germany, it's not bad! Steak was excellent... truly the best steak I've had in 9 months here! I too am from Texas, and I was impressed for Germany. One big difference... you have to pay €7,50 for chips and salsa (but they bring you a huge basket and 4 kinds of dip (queso, salsa (puree), a ranch-like dip, and this most excellent (but weird) peanut dip!

Das wort anstrengend würde am meisten zutreffen für mein 2,5 stündigen Aufenthalt. Nach einer Reservierungszusage für 17.30 wurden wir darauf hingewiesen, dass wir bis 19.30 Uhr Zeit hätten, da es mehrere Reservierungen gibt. Das war für uns völlig legitim. Die Getränke kamen ziemlich schnell, die Vorspeise allerdings erst nach 50 Minuten. Wir hatten nachos mit Käse überbacken und sauer Cream. Nicht ganz so verständlich, wieso das so lange gedauert hat. Die Hauptspeise kam 45 Minuten nach der Vorspeise. Wir fragen die Kellnerin wieso das alles so lange dauert, darauf hin meinte sie, da wir eine Vorspeise bestellt haben zieht sich der Prozess nach hinten und so mit verlängert sich alles. Also für nachos 50 min warten ist für mich nicht verständlich. Und noch 45 min zusätzlich für das Essen. Die nachos Waren sehr geschmacklos. Hauptspeise war in Ordnung. Unsere Getränke waren nach einige Zeit leer und dir wurden bis zum Ende unser Aufenthalt nicht abgeräumt. Sehr ärgerlich weil der Tisch allgemein sehr sehr klein war. Nach uns wurde auch nicht geschaut ob alles in Ordnung ist. Wir haben 68€ liegen gelassen und wir hatten nicht mal eine anständige Tisch Decke sondern nur eine aus Papier wo man malen kann. Wurde wahrscheinlich mit Kindergarten verwechselt. Anders kann Ich mir diesen Aufenthalt nicht erklären. Ambiente trotzdem sehr schön und sehr nette und freundliche Bedienungen.

Das Joe Pena‘s ist ein mexikanisches Restaurant in Stuttgart. Eingerichtet ist es im typischen mexikanischen Stil mit viel Holz, wobei aufgrund der Gebäude Beschaffenheit eine breite Fensterfront existiert, die auf der einen Seite Licht spendet, auf der anderen Seite aber auch etwas von dieser dunklen, gemütlichen Atmosphäre nimmt. Da allerdings ein großer Außenbereich sich an die Fensterfront anschließt, wirkt es schon gemütlich. Das Essen ist klassisch mexikanisch, mit Nachos, Enchilada‘s etc. Es gibt eine Tagesspezialkarte, Montags z.B. ist Burgertag. Das Essen war sehr gut, besonders z.B. eine spezielle warme, leicht scharfe Soße zu den Nachos. Es gibt auch „Happy Hour“ Zeiten für Cocktails zu 7,50 €, allerdings fand ich das Glas verhältnismäßig klein. Wenn man mal Crushed Ice, Limettenstücke und andere Zutaten aus dem Glas entfernen würde, dann bleibt nicht mehr viel Flüssigkeit. Anyway, gemixt war mein Mojito top, zum Durst löschen aber besser vorher was anderes bestellen, sonst ist der Cocktail nach einem Atemzug leer. Zusammengefasst: Ein empfehlenswertes Restaurant mit netter Atmosphäre, bei dem es sich lohnt auch mal auf Aktionen oder Sonderspeisekarten zu schauen.
