Do not order the chicken. The chicken āfiletā is sawdust, it resembles a sliced-in-half tube of dehydrated ground chicken that crumbles away when you try to cut it. The āmanagerā tried to tell us that āchicken breast is meant to be dryā and since itās āsous videā it is supposed to be this way. Complete nonsense and an embarrassment to even try to say that. The entire point of sous vide is to retain moisture. This texture was like they had put it in a 450° oven for 2 hours.
They brought another plate and it was the exact same. They said they store it in the sous vide, so my suspicion is that they have the sous vide turned up way too high and are leaving it in there for hours past reaching proper temp. Itās the only thing that makes sense, because itās borderline impossible to make chicken that dry with a sous vide. Either that or theyāre storing it inside of a dehumidifier.
We had to argue with them multiple times about this. They wouldnāt bring something else, instead only offering to bring another plate of chicken, which was the exact same quality. When we told them the second plate was also horrible and to take it off our bill, they said they wouldnāt because we āasked for a second plate instead of getting something elseā. Not true. Eventually they removed it, but we had to argue about it multiple times. They kept saying āitās chicken, it has to be cooked well doneā. We obviously understand chicken has to be well done, we are not stupid, but if you think this is properly āwell doneā, then I donāt know that to say. I mean look at the picture. It is about an hour in a broiler past āwell doneā.
Acting like weāre ignorant tourists because we donāt want to eat chicken dust, is a complete joke. I cook chicken in my own sous vide all the time, Iāve been to hundreds of restaurants in my life, Michelin star to greasy spoons, nobody would ever think this is how chicken should be cooked. A line cook at a pub would take one look at this and go WTF. It blows my mind that anyone working at a restaurant would try to say this is in any way acceptable. Anyone who knows anything about food should not have to be convinced that this chicken is beyond ruined. To serve it and then try to gaslight us that itās how chicken is supposed to be, like weāve never cooked/eaten a chicken breast before, is embarrassing. The correct response would have been to take one look at this abomination, apologize, and offer to bring something else, and then maybe go check what their cook has the sous vide temperature set to. My brain almost exploded as I sat there looking at that plate as the server explained to me what a chicken breast was....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWOW! Found this place via a Google search while visiting Athens. It's located in the very lively center of Monastiraki Square. One elevator ride up to the roof and as you turn the corner the atmosphere is electric and elegant! Definitely an Adult Vibe! Live dj with great music. Uniformed staff, great decor and friendly hustling staff. Quickly seated in a nice wood top table with views of the Acropolis from any seat. Beautiful setting and a fantastic Menu of great cocktails and even better food. This place is GREAT for a Date or a night with friends and I didn't see. One one kid! I arrived at Midnight and stayed until 3am. Reasonable prices. Drinks could be stronger but Because of the prompt service and atmosphere I didn't complain. Try the mini burgers and the veggie spring rolls. The Truffle Mayo is AMAZING!!!! NEXT DAY UPDATE
Now for an UPDATE...Went back a second night and I could feel the change in the air. Went on a Monday and the Service was NOT the same. Arrived and saw the same corner seat empty and asked to be seated there but was told that it was "Reserved". It remained empty for 30min before some girls showed up and I watched as they were seated across from me and then asked to be seated where I requested after taking 15min worth of pics on a swing. The wait staff was good but there was a new manager on the floor who I noticed was running the show. He was dressed like a bum and had an attitude that was not suitable for the atmosphere. By the end of the night I asked for another round of drinks before leaving. The waiter was changed with a new guy and I didn't have the menu in front of me. I explained I didn't know the drink name but described it...He threw the name out and I told him I was unsure...he proceeded to bring it out. When it arrived I realized it was wrong. I asked him to change it because he had to "Ask the manager". He walks over to the manager the one dressed like a bum....this guy looks at me and I can see his lips moving...waiter walks over and says "Sorry he said No"....wait WHAT! I explained that it was not only my 2nd night attending and how much was spent but in addition I didn't know the cocktail name blah blah blah nor was it even touched....but NOPE. I confronted the "Manager" who literally looked like a deer in headlights then proceeded to tell me "Thanks for Coming".....Yeah that was the last time I will ever...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreāExtremely pushy tourist rip-off. We said we wanted to just stay for a quick drink and waiter pushed big bottle of overpriced water on us, etc. we did not want to argue and therefore paid for the water and fled. Cultural deterioration if you just visited antique sites.ā
Since it is impossible to reply to the restaurant's reply, I will add my comment here below.
It's a pity that the restaurant also lies: we didn't order a bottle of water. The waiter asked "water with or without gas", to which we replied that we were probably misunderstood and we are not planning to have dinner, but came to have a quick drink (iced tea or non alcoholic cocktail, etc.). This was mentioned earlier and to the receptionist who seated us. The waiter said he understood, but they still have water served first. To avoid arguing after a long day of sightseeing, we replied ok, "regular water without gas". No one ordered bottled water. Then he brought a big bottle of water and opened it in front of us and poured it into two glasses. Without asking if we were ready to order, he left. After that we sat in bewilderment and waiting for about 5 minutes. No one came to us. Together with the fact that a DJ started working in parallel, we decided that we didn't want to wait any longer, it was not comfortable for us (we were put on high chairs with tables, where we couldn't see the Acropolis and close to the equipment). We were left small money on the table for water, as it was brought to us, but we did not order it and did not touch it. On the way out the waiter ran up to us and nervously asked us to pay for the water. We agreed without spoiling the mood. But the next surprise was the price... The waiter did not count the money left on the table, apparently decided to take it personally for tea. Complete bewilderment and disappointment. It's a shame that the restaurant also lies in return. In general, it's better to avoid it if you don't want to spoil your mood. There are plenty of more decent restaurants (also rooftops) in the area, where you won't get on your nerves because of a bottle of water, and you...
