Drakoulis Dry & Raw Kolonaki — Restaurant in Athens

I am Greek and I travel a lot all around Europe. Because love food, I have tried many restaurants all around Europe and especially Greece. Yesterday we tried Dracoulia for first (and last time).

1. we had 35 minutes delay from our reservation and they didn’t have the dignity to offer us even a glass of water.
2. the staff are very young, average or bad trained ( all night they were spilling our water or wine while pouring to our glasses) and almost rude.
3. inside the restaurant is an open butcher and the smell of raw meat is everywhere and I do not mean a good smell
4. the procedure to order the food is very awkward and takes a long time without any meaning. It is simple show for people that have never tried a pure steakhouse.
5. price. Sure it is way overpriced in everything. Salads, appetisers, alcohol. The meat was tasty and excellent cooked, maybe over prised also. 4 people 400€ 1 salad 2 appetisers and 900grams ribeye. In Greece you can have excellent dinner with half budget and much better taste and quantity
6. last but not least the place. The place is awful. Very dark for that kind of restaurant that looks more as a bar or club. The music was very good but so loud that you couldn’t talk with the rest.

The place is well known for years for its tasteful food, its high prices and its top class electro music. Being a native Athenian and a customer for years I knew what to expect. Unfortunately that’s not the case anymore. Nowadays they seem to care about making a quick buck with no respect to their clients or their money. We had a reservation for four at 22:00, we ate and had drinks and at 00:15 they asked us to buy a bottle or to relocate to the bar. Our bill at that point was 450$, the cherry on top was that they also tried to charge us for a drink that we didn’t order. As you can imagine although being a customer who paid thousands over the years I won’t be going back there anymore. My recommendation to you, if you love electro music go there straight for a drink and avoid the overpriced food altogether. If on the other hand you are a big spender looking for something premium, that’s not the place to be, they will provide you a bad service, since they will overcrowd the place, they will try to overcharge you anyway they can and they will not hesitate to disrespect you if they think they can make 50-100$ more. After reading some bad reviews and being exhausted I almost cancelled but I was so glad that I went! It was the best steak I’ve ever had and I’ve had plenty! I went early on a Wednesday night as it was my last night but I wished I’d of gone on the weekend for the party atmosphere. However at this time it was quieter, staff were super helpful and attentive, it wasn’t as dark as people said at this time so if you’re put off by that I’d say go earlier and when there’s no event because you can’t miss out on this place and not have their steak. The whole place is such a vibe and the concept of the butchery in the steakhouse allowing you to see, pick and have your steak cut and weighed for you is amazing!
