We went at Gaya for a drink yesterday and everything was OK. Today we went for brunch with my friend who is vegan. I ordered an omelette and my friend asked if there were vegan options and she chose the vegan pancakes. They prepared and brought my omelette stating that my friends pancakes will follow shortly. As the pancakes didn't arrive, 15 minutes later we asked the waitress who was around to check on our order. And tada... The surprise... She stated that there is a problem in the kitchen and it will be delayed and if my friend could choose something else. We said they could change the pancakes to the vegan sandwich instead which was the only other vegan option available on the menu. And the waitress said then... Aaa sorry we cannot offer any vegan options... The reason being that they didn't have the ingredients and they couldn't source them fast.... It's OK to not have something available but is not OK to lie to the customer and after 45 minutes and after the customer asked about the status of the order which was previously told was gng to be with us shortly, to be told there is nothing vegan available. And to finish the experience when we asked for the bill, the waitress asked if we were to pay cash or by card. We said by card. She comes back with the machine starts typing the amount, without bringing the bill!!!!!. I asked if I could have the bill. She pointed the machine to me to pay which I did and then she went to bring the bill... Only to find out that she charged more than what was on the bill (not a lot more though but still more). We left as we didn't want to waste more energy in that place.... But come one guys. If u want to run a cafe, do respect your...
Read moreMy mom and I have been traveling in Greece for 4 weeks. Who knew that Gaya Athens would be one of our favorite restaurants?! We stumbled across this restaurant as it was near our hotel and had a this amazing fan outdoors that keeps you cool in this hot July heat! They have indoor seating as well, but we prefer to be outside. Our server, Giannis, was exceptional. My mom commented and said he is the best server we have had in Greece. We started with coffees. Mom loved her frappe and I loved my freddo cappuccino. We then decided to stay for dinner. I had the Carbonara which was delicious (with fresh shaved Parmesan on top, pancetta was scrumptious) and mom had a pizza (forgot the name, margherita, I think). We highly recommend Gaya. Next time I am in Greece, I will have to come for a drink as it looks to have a really nice...
Read moreI'm not one who usually leaves reviews, but this place certainly deserves all 5 stars.
The food was incredible, delicious, with reasonably generous portions. As I was having my cheat day I’ve tried strawberry pavlova with vanilla cream mascarpone cream and strawberries-no words.
I’ve also tried some great new drinks. Highly recommended. They have an extensive cocktail list. For me it was so hard to choose with all the options but the bartender was more than happy to help me choose something I'd love.
The ambience of the restaurant was equally impressive, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that was perfect for our evening out.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend Gayá to anyone looking for a...
