Worst place I've visited so far in Athens. Service is by far the worst I have seen so far. There were four of us 2 adults and 2 kids. Waiter brought water and disappeared fir a while. Once we asked for some service at last and asked for menu he said that he had one when he brought the water but took it back assuming we are foreigners. There were only 2 plates on the table and 2 silverware and when we asked for two more sets he brought silverware and one plate only. DUH? We ordered Bruschetta and two pizza's. One puschutto and one bianco pizza. Bruschetta was nothing but diced tomato and oregano on fresh slices of sandwich bread. When I asked if bread could be at least toasted the response was that this is the way they make bruschetta and he invited me to kitchen to see how it is made. I kindly declined the offer telling him that I have never ate bruschetta made of soft and moist bread in my life. Pizza on other hand had a good ingredients but it was stone cold. Pizza dough looks like it is made of already prepared pitta bread. And by the way i asked for 500 ml of draft beer with two glasses to share with my wife and never got a second glass. If possible avoid this place in wide radius since you will not get what you paid for. I WILL DEFINITELLY NOT VISIT THIS PLACE...
Read moreI had high expectations for this place, but the experience just didn't really meet them. I liked the atmosphere of this restaurant; tables outside really gives you an opportunity to feel the vibe of downtown Athens, spacious inside the restaurant, lighting and ambience is inviting. Food was good, and affordable... We just simply waited to long! Wasn't sure who it server was and none of the attention was on my wife! They had taken my drink order, delivered it, and ignored hers. Was a strange experience.
Considering the name, it's probably time they go back to school to learn a thing or two about service and attentiveness. This seems to be the norm across the Greek service industry, though. Food itself was good and we enjoyed it. We shared a Bianca pizza, had Tomato Pesto Pasta with Buratta and a Carbonara. Carbonara was excellent, authentic and delicious. Pesto pasta was a bit bland. Pizza toppings were fantastic; the bresaola and truffle were a great mix. Pizza dough could have been better - a little too thin for my liking considering how big the pizza was.
I'd give School Pizza Bar another shot because I liked the food, but I could easily be convinced to try a number of other restaurants...
Read moreTake this review with a pinch of salt because we visited the restaurant on a very busy day. The prices are pretty hefty, especially when compared to the quality of the food. It was very crowded which means that the customer service was mostly subpar. The chairs on the outside part of the restaurant are very uncomfortable, which makes the overall experience a lot worse. Smoking is allowed in the outside sector of the restaurant, which makes the visit a living hell for non-smokers. Lastly, I want to express my feelings about certain dishes. Most of the food items were worse than expected, but there were some dishes that acted as a redemption. I also have to mention that the cooks were very respectful to the food's Italian origins. One of redeeming dishes was the specialty pizza that was simply amazing. I imagine that most of the pizza dishes are also very tasty. All in all, this place is just OK, with some negative aspects but also some...
