Golden Haveli (Indian Restaurant & Bar) — Restaurant in Athens

I cannot believe this place has so many good reviews, their food it's average at its best! I ordered via efood these 3 items : chicken tikka salad (7 euros), chicken tikka masala (10 euros), onion bhajis (5.10 euros). Well guys...very average. For a person myself who love Indian food it was actually a disappointment. OK, restaurants will never make super authentic cuisine but here it's not even the case... ...the quality of the food was the deal breaker... it is not the highest. The chicken tikka salad = Tomatoes and cucumbers sliced with masala sauce and some boneless chicken...the taste was okay but something was off, either the non grilled, harder green peppers, either the ingredients not being super fresh...not a salad I'd remember. The chicken tikka masala= a staple in Indian cuisine, but here the sauce was not creamy enough while the flavor wasn't strong and the chicken pieces were not enough (aka small portion for the price). The onion bahjis...the real big disappointment, small, not crispy enough and not flavorful whatsoever. This is not the best Indian restaurant in Athens. The best Indian restaurant in Athens is: -The pink elephant (they even make mango chicken curry -amazing)

If you don't care about the area and you want to eat the best Pakistani/Indian food (very similar cuisines) in Athens, Golden haveli is not for you, go to this restaurant instead (with bigger portions and half prices), and thank me later : -Pak Taka Tak (big portions, 5 euros masala plates, salads and minty sauces are free, usually frequented just by pakistanis, also it's clean, the food is displayed and cooked in front of you) - As I said- Thank me later.

Our meal at Golden Haveli was exemplary, featuring well-prepared dishes like Palak Paneer, Aloo Naan, Paneer Naan, and Onion Naan, each capturing the essence of home. Mr. Manoj’s attention to detail was evident, and he concluded our meal with a strong, perfectly brewed chai.

Going beyond hospitality, Mr. Manoj recognized our travel plans to Paros, Naxos, and Santorini and graciously offered to store our luggage, allowing us to explore freely. When we returned the next day to drop off our bags, he had instructed his staff to again welcome us with chai and Lassi – a thoughtful gesture that held special significance as we were observing a Tuesday fast, a tradition we uphold even while abroad.
