My fiance and I went to this restaurant for dinner part way through our Athens trip. The service started off really well, the older gentleman met us at the menu and was very friendly and polite, and informed us that they had gluten free options which was a big deal for us as my fiance is highly allergic. After being seated, our server approached and we clarified what was meant by gluten free options. It was a heavy limitation to the menu, but something we are fairly use to. We ordered the zucchini sticks with a dipping sauce to start, and when it arrived we were saddened to see that it was covered in a batter that is not gluten free. The server was accommodating and replaced it with a Greek Salad (worst one we've had on the trip) which was very nice, and made up for what was most likely a misunderstanding. The rest of the meal was great, I had a Moussaka and my fiance had a fish fillet. When it came time to pay the bill, we received our 10 Euros entirely in change, about a pound in weight of coin. Not sure if they were short on change or trying to make a point over our dietary restrictions, but the overall experience was not what we came to expect over the course of our trip and having eaten at other, fantastic restaurants. Hopefully this was pre-season jitters and they were just dusting off. There are other restaurants that I would recommend over this, but the food was still...
Read moreNice beautiful place with a live singer and food looks amazing. Service is absolutely shocking. They only seem to approach people who are Caucasian. This is my first time in Greece and I wanted to try some traditional food and wine. The waiter(older man with glasses) didn’t want us to enter the restaurant and gave us the table on next to the road even though there was other tables free, so we moved. When we asked him for recommendations he just pointed at a 2 things on the menu (which were way to pricey). You can enjoy better food and drink elsewhere, so we proceeded anyway with his recommendations. He then came back and gave us our food and wine, which was decent. The waiter returned and in a soft polite voice told us he was finishing and that we needed to pay for the food and drink, even though my partner had half a glass of wine left. He then asked for a tip, I laughed and said no thank you. His service was a joke. He was a embarrassment to the restaurant and business and I genuinely feel sorry for the owner. Probably won’t ever return again. You can find so many other nicer places along that strip or even towards Plaka. Monstiraki has some traditional and nicer places too which offer the same experience. The funniest thing was that the singer sang English songs even though we were in Greece. The whole place is a fancy...
Read moreWe sat at one of the outdoor tables to have some beers. We informed one of the waitresses that we were only going to drink, and she had no problem with it. While my partner was in the toilet and I was waiting to order, another waiter came and asked me if I was alone or with someone. I thought he was asking if I wanted two beers, so I kindly try to say it in Greek as I always do, but he responded very rudely, saying that this table was for dinner only. I was confused since I had never been treated badly here in Athens. Later, when my partner returned, he again said very rudely that the outdoor table was for dinner only and that if we only wanted to drink, we would have to sit inside. We didn’t mind, but a simple prompt or explanation would’ve been sufficient (rather than angrily saying “No!”, whilst removing the menus. Honestly, Zeus would’ve made a big stinker over the is lack of Xenia.
With so many options to eat and in this gorgeous city, I would perhaps avoid this one (even though we didn’t actually try the food. Maybe it’s...
