I went to Muse Bistro twice during my stay in Athens, once at lunch and again a couple days later to try their dinner menu.
Lunch:
My wife and I ordered the homemade peinirli. There were a variety of delicious options available, so choosing was difficult, but we settled on one with soutzouki, goat cheese and tomato sauce, and the other with tomato, feta cheese, and Kalamata olives. Both were sublime, and came piping hot to the table. The crust was perfectly crisp, but light and bready inside, while the quality of the other ingredients was evident from the vibrant flavors and fresh taste. Between the two, the feta cheese and olive was the better, but both were very satisfying. We finished by sharing a small rice pudding for dessert, which was lightly sweet and wonderfully creamy, with just the right amount of cinnamon. We were very happy with our choices, but I realized when reading other reviews that they had a very different dinner menu which was highly rated. We decided to come back a couple days later to try it out.
Dinner:
We started with a sea bass carpaccio to share, which was an interesting experience. I had not had anything quite like it before; refreshing, tangy, and a little creamy from the salad beneath. For the main course, I ordered the cockerel stifado, which was an absolute work of art. The plating was so beautiful that I apologized to the dish as I disturbed it. The mesh of flavors was masterful, a cunning mixture of complimentary notes that were individually delicious but combined majestically. It is without doubt one of the finest meals I have ever had. It went very well with the house-recipe Ten Straws cocktail. I rarely return to the same restaurant, let alone for the same dish, when traveling but I strongly considered coming back just to have it again. Alas, I could not convince my wife, who wanted to try more of what the city offered; but I will always remember this dish. For dessert, we shared a creme brulee that was perfectly prepared and richly sweet.
The staff were kind, attentive, and helpful, and the prices were very reasonable. I hope that the restaurant retains whoever prepared that stifado for a long time; they are a world-class chef. This was the best food I had during my time in Greece by a comfortable margin, and I highly recommend it to any...
Read moreOur second time at the bistro we had an excellent and fresh breakfast of our choice consisting of 3 courses, the crepe was excellent, and the avocado with lime was very refreshing, after a week in Greece where we tried a variety of restaurants, we realized that we had to return to the bistro to taste all of their menus - breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch.
The third time we came to the bistro for dinner, the cocktails were great, we ordered 3 unforgettable starters - meaty shrimp meatballs, small vegetables stuffed with black rice - also stuffed cherry tomato and shallots! Along with an incredibly delicious eggplant cream. And my winner - fish carpaccio on a bed of potato salad and shrimp cut into bernoise, with an addictive taste with touches of dill and boterga.
We also ordered a salad of spinach and lots of herbs, with layers of crunchy phyllo sheets and a mild and refreshing seasoning.
For a main course we ate juicy fish seared on a pan, the skin was crispy, the butter sauce together with the Jerusalem artichoke cream and the tender fish blew my mind. There was also Jerusalem artichoke chips, which left me speechless
The previous day during breakfast I saw the cook professionally separating the hairs of the kadaif. So even though we were very full and drunk - we also ordered dessert, the delicate taste of the pistachio ice cream and the sourness of the cherries created a perfect balance and concluded this exciting meal with applause and tears.
Thank you to all the kind staff, for a once in a lifetime meal, you are doing excellent PR for Athens, and treat the ingredients with respect and delicacy. Hope...
Read moreThis Restaurant belongs to the GEM SOCIETY HOTEL. We have arrived on Tuesday, September, 10th in 2024 at 9:50 p.m. while we have been only guests. You can order meals only before 10:00 p.m. At 11:00 p.m. the Restaurant will close. We have ordered a Greek Salad (10,00 €) and a Club Sandwich (13), Coca Cola is served with 0,25 l (3,50 €) ,water (0,5l= 0,50 €) is served out of a PLASTIC BOTTLE. The ambiance is cold and nothing for an romantic evening. The Menu is not looking interesting. The Club Sandwich was not really warm and especially the meat including chicken was cold. We travel monthly worldwide but we never and nowhere got an almost cold Sandwich. It was always and everywhere warm and so was the filling and texture. While being there after eating I got diarrhea and went to the well designed Toilet. After sitting down on the Toilet the light automatically was switched off after 30 seconds. When making movements it was always switched on for 30 seconds and the game was starting again. At home my Diarrhea got continued. So I hope that tomorrow I will feel better. I cannot recommend...
