We found this hidden gem on our first night in Athens, Oct 7, completely by fluke and I cannot recommend it more highly. You must must go here! We had eaten dinner somewhere else and then got turned away quite rudely from two other places because they didn't want to just serve us after dinner drinks. These wonderful people welcomed us in and it was karma that the other two treated us so rudely - this place is fantastic! First The view. On one side a spectacular view of the Acropolis lit up, turn around and you have another gorgeous view of Lycabettus Hill. Second, We were so happy with how we were treated by the friendly staff, we told them we were coming back for dinner; which we did on our last night (Oct 10) And wow!
We decided to try the bruschetta that had peanut butter and anchovies.. of course we were intrigued by the flavour combination and it worked beautifully. And then being my last night in Greece, I had to have my new favorite, the moussaka, which did not disappoint. It was so full of flavour and just so comforting. We washed it down with a couple of Strawberry Kisses, and a drink that was recommended by our wonderfully friendly server Vasilios (Billy) which he called Summertime in Greece (which seemed very appropriate lol)...it was delicious. And then to top it off Billy graciously brought us a couple of digestive drinks in the form of limoncello. Billy was also such a good server, he was able to make the moon rise right behind Lycabettus Hill... I don't know how he managed to do that but it was a perfect end to the evening 😉.
In some ways it was a shame it was our last evening as we would have loved to have gone back. But it really was the perfect end to our 4 days in Athens and 2 weeks in Greece. Thank you Billy and the entire staff for one of our best...
Read moreCool view to the Acropolis, but not at all worth the price. Firstly, they tried to seat us at a table with broken glass on the seat and floor, even though the customers sat on the next table let us know they had alerted the staff about it a while ago. That was a sign, and we should have heeded its warning. The food took forever to arrive and did not arrive at the same time, despite the fact that two of us ordered the same meal, and we were misled about when the final meal would arrive. I ordered pasta with salmon and white sauce, which you can make at home for much less than €20 by mixing penne, salmon and sour cream. Don't bother with condiments, and don't forget to add fish bones, which I found three of just by eating half my meal. We let the server know and got to speak with the manager, who is the most unfriendly and uncompromising person I've ever had the misfortune of coming across. There was no apology or any other kind of attempt at placating the customer, and he instead constantly interrupted us and tried to put the blame on us for not letting them know about this issue earlier. Then he stormed off to check on the final meal that we specified we didn't want anymore anyway. The server went to get him again, and then the manager tried to give us a sort of reverse discount by making us pay for food that never even left the kitchen. The only saving grace was our server Teo, who was very apologetic and did his job admirably despite having an absolute nightmare for a boss. All in all, please go to the place across the street on the stairs - don't know what it's called, but they have great food and...
Read moreI got really upset at this place. First of all, the waiter was easily annoyed and unfriendly when we only ordered prosecco and a snack, suggesting we leave soon as guest for dinner will arrive. Nonetheless, we decided to stay for dinner as the location & view were amazing and the menu looked fine. We ordered several starters and a main dish each, and wanted some accompanying wine. However, the waiters could not give us any suggestions on the wine (4 or max 5 of them on the menu for white) except ‘dry’ and ‘white for appetizer, red for main’ (we ordered chicken for main....). We decided on a nice bottle however - thank you Vivino! Then we got served the main dish, even though the starters had not yet arrived, so we had to send it back. Our starters arrived quickly and we were told to ask for the main dish when ready - which we did - and it arrived cold. Had to send it back again. The waiter actually had the audacity to ask for a tip when we were paying instead of apologizing - or offering a free coffee / dessert which would have been the reasonable thing to do. Unbelievable!
Conclusion: ambience, location, view = amazing Food = nice, nothing to complain Wine = dito Service = worst I’ve experienced in ages - be it in Greece or...
