We were visiting Athens and we ended up here three times. The first time, we just found it in an alley and I had an unbelievable Aperol spritz that matched the brand new shoes I'd just gotten. We didn't eat that day, but as we sat in the window and watched what the locals were eating, we felt a little left out. A few days later, we were strolling the Plaka and we were hungry and we wanted to go back...but we didn't even gotten the name! Thank goodness for picture location. We were able to open up the photo and find our way. We had the sliced pork focaccia, and it was delicious. I was drinking and watching what other locals were eating and I asked about a dish that turned out to be bergamot rind boiled in syrup served with a creamy yogurt. Penelope brought me a taste simply for asking. Finally, we came back to say goodbye a third time. We had the selection of Greek cheeses and meats with house made jam and bread sticks. The food here is authentic, handmade, locally sourced and served with love. To thank us for coming, they served us the most amazing tiramisu, made in house by lovely Penelope who made us feel most welcome at every visit. The bathrooms were the cleanest I encountered in the whole city. If you are strolling the Plaza and looking for an authentic meal in a lovely spot, this is a...
Read moreSince I tried it, anytime I come back from the US , that’s my place for high quality food. It’s my 10th time and every time I would rate more than 5 stars if I could. Why:
The raw ingredients are hand picked by the owners and they are experienced enough to understand that if the raw material is superb no need for sauces &too much extras. Mediterranean cuisine at its finest. Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication
Amazing variety of wines & many Greek wines I hadn’t tried before.
The owners take care of everything personally. Stratos & his wife have built a team that makes you feel home. Also they have/produce their own ingredients + their network of suppliers.
You can’t find this downtown, where most of the places are targeting the tourists who visit Athens just once.
Don’t miss it
PS: Photo: the liver and this superfood salad were unprecedented. I have tried almost all...
Read moreLet me tell you, Im still thinking about this restaurant after visiting in September of 2024 and its now July of 2025 because the food was THAT GOOD. We randomly came across here and are really glad we did. The restaurant is small, intimate and the food is really fresh. What still has my mouth watering almost a year later was the karydopita. I had been searching Athens for a really great karydopita and this blew my expectations out of the window. My aunt at home makes it and I thought it was good until I tried this one. The owner was kind enough to bring out his mother who makes it fresh so I could thank her profusely for what is, quite literally, the best cake I've ever had. I dont know what magical hands and skills the yia-yia has but I am absolutely lucky to have been able...
