Suvla Athens — Restaurant in Athens

Sukla didn’t live up to the 4.7 rating for me. I’ve been in Greece for 3 weeks and have had quite a few gyros but this was one of my least favourite - chicken was kind of dry, which is supposed to be the star of the show. I could barely taste the tzatziki. I prefer my pitas soft and warm, they were a bit tough.

I’d give it a 4 but service wasn’t great either - table was dirty when we sat down (cleaned ourselves), had to find our own menus and then call for attention to make an order.

The Good - They do give free tap water and they have a nice breeze through the restaurant with their air pumps. You can also switch sauces and add to your gyros (we added onion to the chicken). Plenty of seating also. Fries in the gyros were tasty.

€17.90 for two chicken gyros pitas + Greek salad was decent.

I thought Tylixto gyros were better (lower rating but be warned the lines are long. Theirs might also be a tad smaller, there’s not much space to...

We came twice to Suvla, first time around the gyros (I had the chicken gyros) came to the table and looked amazing - ate it immediately as it was fresh, hot, delicious, and regretted not taking a picture.

Cue our second time here, I was dead SET on taking a picture to post with this review but alas, it looked so good I damn near lost my mind when I finished eating and remembered I wanted to snap a picture. Suvla has some of the best street style food in Athens, the fries are fried from fresh and the meat cut to order. You’re missing out if you skip Suvla!

Bonus points that it’s very affordable in terms of price, the gyros being around the 5 EUR mark.

I can’t comment the food as we haven’t ordered . The young guy calls you from the street showing that they want you as a customer , then you just sit and wait . We asked for the waiter to order and been told - we haven’t waited enough . The place was half empty: the waiters preferred to clean the other tables and make the empty tables on the front . When I asked the man in charge who was cleaning another table - why the customer who is already in the restaurant is not a priority, he said it’s non of my business if the place is not busy .
