The Smile Restaurant has left an indelible mark on my taste buds with their exquisite Iced Latte and Avocado Sandwich. This place truly knows how to elevate the art of culinary delight.
Let's start with the Iced Latte—a refreshing revelation. It wasn't just a drink; it was a harmonious symphony of flavors and sensations. The moment it touched my lips, I was greeted by a perfectly balanced blend of rich coffee and the soothing chill of ice. It wasn't overly sweet or bitter; it was the Goldilocks of Iced Lattes—just right. The presentation was a work of art in itself, a testament to the attention to detail that goes into every creation.
Now, let's talk about the Avocado Sandwich—a gastronomic masterpiece. The avocado was a ripe, creamy dream come true. Spread generously on perfectly toasted bread, it was a texture and taste sensation like no other. Accompanied by fresh, crisp vegetables and a delicate seasoning, this sandwich was a flavor explosion in every bite. The contrast of the creamy avocado against the crunch of the bread was a culinary marvel.
But what sets the Smile Restaurant apart isn't just the exceptional food and drink; it's the overall experience. The staff here epitomizes genuine hospitality, always ready to offer a warm smile and helpful recommendations. The atmosphere is inviting, creating a space where you can savor your meal and immerse yourself in the moment.
Whether you're a coffee aficionado seeking the perfect Iced Latte or an avocado enthusiast looking for the ultimate sandwich, the Smile Restaurant is a culinary haven. It exceeded my expectations and provided an unforgettable journey for my taste buds. I'm eagerly anticipating my next visit to explore more of their delectable offerings.
This establishment has my wholehearted recommendation. It's not just a restaurant; it's an oasis of flavor and hospitality that will leave you with a smile...
Read moreWe stumbled upon Smile Gastro Tavern by pure luck, and I can confidently say it’s the best restaurant in Athens! We actually visited twice in one day because it was that good.
Our first visit was in the morning for coffee, but when I spotted the pancakes on another table, I couldn’t resist. They were, hands down, some of the best pancakes I’ve ever had—better than any I’ve tried in New York! Fast forward 4-5 hours, and we found ourselves back again. While having breakfast earlier, we saw so many mouthwatering dishes being served, and after hearing other customers rave about them, we knew we had to return for lunch.
The star of our meal was the Burger Kleftiko—wow! It’s not your typical burger; it’s made with slow-cooked lamb and is a true masterpiece. And let me not forget the Greek salad—it’s no ordinary salad. Topped with whipped feta and a delicious dressing, it’s a must-try. Another highlight was their take on Arancini, made with a tasty Greek cheese called manouri. Every dish was a delight!
The open kitchen concept is fantastic; you can watch the magic happen as they prepare your meal with care. The staff? Absolutely wonderful! So friendly, so kind, and they take the time to explain everything. If I could give them 6 stars, I absolutely would!
Portions are generous enough to share, which allowed us to try a variety of dishes. The location is just a short walk from the Acropolis—about 200 meters—but trust me, it’s well worth the walk.
If you’re in Athens, do yourself a favor and stop by Smile Gastro Tavern. You...
Read moreDuring our trip to Athens (20-24 August, 2025), we dined at Smile three times, that is how much we loved it. Each time was a fantastic experience.
The menu is not only creative and delicious, but also beautifully presented. The chefs have worked hard to create a menu that innovates the classics without being overly fussy, or losing soul. Flavours and textures are combined thoughtfully, with profiles inspired from around the world, but still deeply rooted in the fundamentals of Greek cuisine.
Our dining experience was truly unique. I would visit Athens again just to come back to Smile because I know that what they are offering can't be substituted. You can't replicate their creativity.
We ate (to name just a few):
The Greek Salad (with the most delicious variety of fresh, seasonal cherry tomatoes and whipped feta).
Cracked Bulgar and Prawns (my favourite).
An East meets West shrimp linguini, bursting with flavour.
Juicy, tender, delicious Souvlaki
Fried Squid (paired with the most delicious sauces, and plated to perfection)
Loukoumades (Honey donuts) so delicious it would make you cry.
Homemade Baklava ice cream.
The service was also outstanding, the staff (especially the man wearing a fun straw hat) recognised us each time we went, and provided a warm and welcoming dining experience. The atmosphere was airy and relaxing.
Thank you so much! Keep doing what...
