A Culinary Oasis in Athens: The Yard
Tucked away in the heart of Athens, The Yard is a culinary gem that masterfully blends traditional Greek flavors with modern twists, creating an unforgettable dining experience. Our visit was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality, creativity, and exceptional service.
Culinary Highlights: Dolmadakia: These delicate grape leaves, stuffed with a rice, fennel, pine nuts and carrot cream with saffron and green apple were a delight. They perfectly encapsulated the essence of Greek cuisine. The Greek Trilogy: A harmonious combination of traditional Greek dishes, each component was expertly prepared and presented, showcasing the richness and diversity of Greek culinary heritage. There was a cheese pie with sun dried tomatoes, a spinach pie with herbs and feta cheese as well as a traditional meat pie. Trylosalata: This vibrant feta cheese dip with sweet florina peppers and paprika from Aridaia served with two fresh baked rolls was a symphony of fresh Greek ingredients, carefully selected to create a delightful balance of flavors and textures.
Tiramisu: From the moment I took my first bite, I was transported to a cozy Italian café, thanks to the dessert's authentic flavors and textures.
The layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers were perfectly balanced—not too soggy, yet moist enough to absorb the rich espresso flavor. The mascarpone cream was incredibly smooth and creamy, providing a delightful contrast to the slightly firmer ladyfingers. The sweetness was just right, allowing the coffee notes to shine without being overwhelming.
One of the standout features of this tiramisu was the dusting of cocoa powder on top, which added a nice bitterness that complemented the sweetness of the cream. The presentation was also impressive, served in a charming dish that made it feel special.
Ambiance and Service: The Yard's location, adjacent to the Acropolis Museum, offers a warm, inviting atmosphere. The service was truly exceptional—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable staff ensured that every need was met with a smile. Their dedication to providing an unforgettable dining experience was evident in every detail, from the presentation of dishes to the thoughtful recommendations.
Overall Experience: The Yard is a must-visit for anyone seeking authentic Greek cuisine in a setting that is both historic and contemporary. Whether you're a food enthusiast or simply looking for a memorable meal in Athens, this restaurant delivers on all fronts. The combination of great food, beautiful views, and outstanding service makes it an unforgettable experience that will leave you eager to return.

Greek cuisine is both modern and authentic, I have taken my wife to eat here three times - the restaurant was always clean and well presented, and the food was always delicious and well cooked.
The menu is varied and full of new experiences for the traveler as well as some recognisable favoites with exciting presentation.
The host and table staff are extremely personable and speak English fluently, leading to fast service even when the restaurant is at capacity. They allowed you to rest and relax, enjoying the calm atmosphere in your own time without feeling rushed to leave. We noticed they also catered for children and families, making everyone feel welcome.
Located near to the Parthenon, Yard offers a glimpse of the majestic ancient ruin and only a short walk from breathtaking sunset and evening views from the south slope.
I highly recommend this restaurant when you are in the area. It is the perfect place to stop for lunch or dinner when exploring the very near Acropolis museum and Parthenon.
Thank you for some great memories and amazing...
Read moreYard is a cozy little place on Makrigiani Street a few steps from metro exit. Yard's atmosphere comes from excellent, hospitable, family-like service and tasteful music which brilliantly accompanies your stay here. Food quality is excellent - the menu isn't very big so they can specialise in what they do, but everyone should find something to their liking. The dishes are appropriately seasoned and very tasty and they have a nice wine selection too. The size is just about right for an adult person, the presentation is tasteful too. What's equally important it's served by very friendly, English speaking waiters who will assist you with food and drink selection and make you feel really welcome there. Dish prices are around 10-13€, we tried and heartily recommend gyros platter (excellent seasoning!), moussaka and lamb chops. They have very tasty desserts as well, we will remember that sweet nut and honey baklava ;-) Our stay was pleasant and we felt very welcome here each time we came to eat....
