Couple, was seated on the bar. Nice atmosphere, good music, nice staff. We ordered margarita pizza, cacio e pepe tartufo pasta and two glasses of wine. It tooks more then 30 minutes to the food to be served.
The pizza was underbaked, with some smoky taste, the 'mozzarella' cheese taste like low quality cheese, and in general the pizza seems ans taste like the ones you can get in those food courts. The pasta wasn't good as well, the so called "cecio e pepe" wasn't even close to the original dish, the tartofu oil wasn't tender as needed and above all that it has some weird texture.
We tried both of the dished, and realised its not what we where expected for. We barely touched them, and most of it remained on our plates. We asked the nice bartender the get the bill so can leave. We've been asked why we didn't touch the food and describe all the above to both the waitress and the manager. The manager insists to give us another dish or dessert. We didn't want any of it, but he was a bit intense about that, so we agreed to have 2 more glasses of wine.
Finally when we got the bill, we were surprised to find out they charged us for the pizza and pasta. We gently asked the waitress if there it a mistake, and she said "no". We paid, and went to eat pizza (a really good one) in other place.
Very disappointing experience. Cant see a reason to go there when there so many better places around.
Edited after the restaurant's response. Attached is a picture of the pizza and the pasta dish (before we tried it - we ate only one slice! Not as the responde says). You can tell by it looks that the pizza is not baked enough, and notice the cheese I mentioned above.
It seems that the owner of the restaurant insists on providing an unpleasant experience to his customers, even after they have...
Read moreWe arrived at the restaurant because my daughter wanted pizza after several days in Athens, where we ate only Greek food.
We entered the restaurant, and the menu looked promising. The design and atmosphere were nice.
We ordered a burrata salad, which was tasty, an Aperol, and two pizzas—one Caprese pizza for my 6-year-old daughter and another pizza in a Greek style.
The salad arrived after a 10-minute wait… and then we started waiting.
A couple who arrived after us sat down and received all their dishes immediately, while other people also started entering the restaurant, getting attention and receiving their orders. But our pizzas didn’t arrive.
My daughter started complaining that she was already hungry and asking where her pizza was.
We waited a few more minutes—40 minutes passed, and still nothing. I called the waitress, who was neither friendly nor professional, and she gave us a look and walked away.
We waited a few more minutes, and again, my daughter complained that she was hungry.
I got up and asked to speak to the manager. They made me wait another 10 minutes until she arrived.
While waiting for the manager, I asked the waitress again if she could tell me how much longer the pizzas would take. Again, she rolled her eyes and didn’t really answer.
When the manager arrived, I explained what had happened.
To be fair, the manager tried to handle the situation positively and ensured we received our pizzas.
However, their service was simply terrible, and the waitress’s attitude was humiliating and unpleasant.
The pizzas finally arrived, but I must say they were a huge disappointment.
Maybe it’s because we’re used to high-quality pizzas in Italy, but if the restaurant claims to be an Italian restaurant, then the pizzas should live up to...
Read moreDuring my recent trip to Athens, I had the pleasure of dining at Tartufo Cucina Italiana, and it was an experience I will never forget. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, but what truly made the evening special was the exceptional service. A lovely young woman with braids served us, and her graciousness and kindness elevated the entire meal. She was attentive without being overbearing, took the time to explain the menu, and even recommended some amazing dishes that turned out to be highlights of the evening. Her genuine warmth and hospitality left such a lasting impression that I can confidently say she made our time at Tartufo—and in Greece—truly unforgettable.
The food, of course, was phenomenal. Every dish was a masterpiece, from the perfectly cooked pasta to the indulgent desserts, showcasing authentic Italian flavors with a touch of Greek charm. The manager also came over to check on us and was equally kind, making us feel like valued guests rather than just tourists. Their collective effort in creating such a welcoming environment is a testament to the heart and soul behind this restaurant. Tartufo Cucina Italiana is not just a place to eat—it’s a place to feel at home, and I will absolutely return the next time I...
