I appreciate this is cheap good food place, but going to a taverna in Greece it’s not just about that. I genuinely had one of the most awkward and unwelcoming experiences ever in my life at a restaurant. We booked a table for 8 pm on a Saturday night. I haven’t seen my friend for 10 years and this was our chance to catch up. We chatted away when I suddenly turn from the noisy loud sound of chairs dragging. I see the staff manically stalking tables and chairs, even placed the outdoor umbrella inside on top of the tables. Time was 22.50 pm and I looked at my watch with surprise as usually people in Greece go for dinner at around 10pm. I realise they were literally kicking us out. No one from the staff said anything to us or gave us any warning, not even the owner who was standing there. Our bottle of wine was still there as well as the dessert we ordered maybe 10 mins ago. I go to the bathroom to find the staff all changed and washing up in the customer bathrooms. Again … in shock. When I come back, my friend had to go to the bathroom with her 5 year old son. At that point, of course I ask for bill which was already printed for us. You won’t believe what happened whilst my friend was at the bathroom with her little one: the owner switched off the lights !!!! We are still inside. This is one of the most unfriendly, unprofessional and rude restaurants I have ever visited and I have been to many. I actually work in travel so I told the owner exactly how I felt. I said : you never gave us any warning, you never said the restaurant is closing and you have made us feel completely unwanted. His answer was the he had to let the staff go! I am still in awe. For any tourist that reads this, please understand that big part of our culture is still the Greek hospitality and this was is most certainty the exact opposite. In any other place, this would have NEVER happened. You have more chances of getting the owner to sit with you, rather than to kick you out. This is a tourist trap, taking people’s money and kicking them out. Now, if you are sitting for dinner at 7 and leave at 9, you might not even notice, but I think you should know the calibre of the people who are running this place. They are all about making quick money and offering fast food service and have no concept of what real customer service is. I am really disappointed to be writing this for a local restaurant. I would avoid at all cost and of course, never send anyone there. I attach the picture of what I saw when I suddenly looked to my left, completely unaware of what I was...

We ordered a carafe of wine — the price was reasonable. The Greek salad was tasty. We tried their version of stuffed vine leaves (dolma), which resembled our Turkish “sarma.” It was olive oil-based and filled with herbs. Unlike ours, it wasn’t lemony, but served with Greek yogurt and a sprinkle of dill — very delicious. One portion includes five pieces.
The fava came in a very generous portion — we couldn’t finish it. It was topped with sun-dried tomatoes, red onion, capers, and plenty of olive oil. It was an excellent combination. We really appreciate how generously olive oil is used in Greek meze dishes.
We also ordered saganaki, one of our favorites. It was beautifully fried, though it arrived at the table slightly cooled. It came with a small mustard-dressed salad, which we liked as well.
For the main course, we had yogurt kebab. The meat was very flavorful, and the yogurt was simply fantastic.
The surprise of the evening was the burger we ordered for our son. It came with two massive patties, pita-like bread, fries, and salad. That burger still lingers in our memory — juicy, perfectly cooked, and impressive for such a thick patty. Even on its own, it would be more than enough as a full meal.
We were extremely satisfied with our experience at this restaurant. We’re sure we’ll return to Athens, and when we do, we’ll definitely come back here. Service, price, quality, flavor, and cleanliness were all top-notch. As a final touch, they offered us a small spiced drink with cinnamon and clove when we paid the bill — a lovely and...
Read moreHighly recommend. Quiet place down an alley. Never would have come upon it if our driver hadn’t recommended it. So thankful. Probably the only restaurant we walked by where we weren’t hailed down as tourists (which yes, we are.) In fact, I wasn’t even sure they were interested in seating us. My mistake. Our server was welcoming and had a delightful, quiet sense of humor. We ordered tzatziki, Saganaki, rocket salad, lamb kebabs, and house wine - all to share between the two of us. Very large portions of delicious food. The salad had at least two types of ripe tomatoes and I really liked eating the Saganaki with it. The warmly spiced kebabs were served on top of a rich tomato sauce with yogurt. And French fries. At home in the states, I rarely eat fries but when I do, I dip them in tartar sauce. Now my go-to fry dip will be tzatziki. And the jazz covers of pop tunes softly playing in the background? We loved it! It was like “name that tune”. You would never know there was touristy chaos happening out in the main road in this little oasis. We look forward to returning for...
