Taverna Plaka — Restaurant in Athens

This was a very bad experience. Firstly, the food is way below average - the bread I got was old and very hard to chew. My chicken was undercooked a bit and very dry. Also, even though the menu said each dish includes side dishes (salads, dips, etc.), my dish did not contain any dips or salads. Therefore, we had to order a salad as a separate serving. Secondly, the food is overpriced taking into consideration that it is not fresh and I felt like I ate stones. Third, the staff is very rude and impolite - the waiter did not pick up the whole order right away, because he forgot my drink. Needless to say we were the only customers at that moment in the whole place. Then, when I ordered again, he brought a big bottle instead of a regular, small one. He threw things around while he served, so food basically fell out of the plates when he was picking them up. He also threw our change in front of us on the table. When he noticed we were very disatisfied, he tried to "buy" us with the dessert on the house and an alcoholic drink, which included one small ice cream scoop and a small glass of Greek traditional beverage for the two of us. Food is bad, service is bad, prices are too high, only the ambience was nice. Avoid this place...

Nice food. The man who welcomed us and sat us at the table was lovely. The waiter serving us was simply awful. So rude and offhand. Put down our drinks at one end of the table and expected us to get them. When the food arrived it was dumped vaguely in front of us. We were left wondering if we could possibly have done something to offend him but we are both always so chatty and friendly with restaurant staff that it can't have been us. He didn't even give us a chance to engage with him at all. All in all an unpleasant experience. There are so many better places to go to around Plaka. I...

Do not go! Be aware of the dodgy bills! We had many items on ours and questioned it. They were trying to overcharge us 15 euros! All in Greek so they hope you will be confused. Rest assured it was no accident, definitely intentional. Very rude and dodgy in a nice manner to cover it up. Waited forever for any attention from the waiter, who was very busy. The other guy was preoccupied with advertising the restaurant to passerbies to get new customers. They lure people in with good music, however I would not recommend.
