Thea Terrace — Restaurant in Athens

I went to get one last beer at a cool place before my flight back. There was a nice barman, a beer I personally liked a lot, and a amazing view of the acropolis and the whole city.

Then I went to pay. I only had cards (2 of them, one credit and one debit in the name of two different people) and no cash. I tried to pay with one of them, and it declined. There is no reason this could happen, but that’s alright, I have another card, with everything about it different from the first, so it must work. Wrong, it declined too. Both of them had no reason to decline, but that’s not their fault but the payment processor’s, so clearly this isn’t the reason I gave a one star in and of itself.

However, I repeatedly told the lady with the payment machine that I had a flight to catch. I even showed her the app with the bank info connected to the debit card to show her I do have more than enough money to pay for a 6€ beer (btw yeah, pretty expansive but it had a great view so I decided to bite the bullet), after she repeatedly told me I didn’t have enough money in my account probably, so it was my problem (despite the other card I tried being a credit card in the name of a different person). She wouldn’t budge, saying it wasn’t her/the bar’s fault so it’s my problem. After a few minutes of arguing I tried again and it worked, but the way they treated someone having to reach a flight, having a backup payment option and even sharing PRIVATE bank account info to prove they really do have the money to pay with their debit card, is completely unacceptable, and the lady showed no...

Booked a table for a birthday meal (by myself as a solo traveller) Being greeted was lovely, however from that point onwards, the service diminished. Starter = Great. Main meal? Abysmal. Ordered the steak, took around 5 minutes before I got a steak knife (which I had to ask twice for) at which point, the sauces were cold. The steak was over cooked and chips under cooked. When complained, the waitress (who was very moody) dumped a shot of mastika infront of me. I was moved to an outside table so I could smoke and subsequently ignored from then on. The service was not good. The only thing that made this visit was the view. Very disappointing. Especially since I had booked this for my birthday...

Service from staff was disgusting. Upon arrival we waited over 15 minutes to be recognised by staff walking past us. We then asked to be seated and had been ignored by two of the staff members, shortly after a couple walked in behind us and had been greeted and seated without booking. The bar was half empty with lots of tables, we had been told to wait in which we did whilst they serve all the customers behind us in line without booking. It was my partners birthday and we had made a long journey from Australia to celebrate in the “popular” spot of Athens. Instead we had to beg to be seated.
