You cannot leave Athens without visiting this wine bar. Demos, the owner (I hope that it’s spelt right!!) is one of the most passionate wine lover you’ll ever meet. If you have the chance like us, he will take the time to help you find your perfect bottle. Because to him, everyone has their unique preferences. Our visit at wine o clock was more than just visit at the bar, it was an experience.
To begin with, Demos asked us lots of questions regarding food preferences. Then, he proposed my partner and a glass of wine each one by one, trying to get to find the perfect glass. He even invited us to the bar to taste certain bottles, just to make sure that we liked the glass that he served. I’ve never seen more determination than this. He introduced us to the world of wine in Greece. Us bring wine lovers knew nothing about Greek wine before we stepped into this bar. But we left feeling surprised, very satisfied and inspired thanks to Demos.
If only we lived in Athens, this would definitely be the bar that we would frequent. For the best wine, food (if you want to taste local cheese, they provide a great cheese platter!!) and best people, look no further. Special thanks to Demos and the lovely server that chose one of her favorite bottles of red for me.
I would give this place an extra star if google...
Read moreWine was good, although overpriced. Since visiting, we had the same wine elsewhere at much better price.
Snacks were extremely disappointing and definitely not ‘delicatessen’ as listed on the menu. We had one bite snacks with chorizo and the fennel pie. Bite sizes were pretty much Ryvita thins with some sort of cheese spread, and the fennel pie.. sorry, but it cannot be considered a pie in any alternative reality. It’s filling in a tortilla.
The waiter was knowledgable, however, he spilt red wine all over me (jumper, trousers, shoes, jacket). Whilst it was an accident and very inconvenient, what was infuriating is that we then had to pay the bill.
Completely understand that accidents happen, but I do expect to at least not to be charged thereafter, especially when it’s red wine! When I asked the waiter if I should bring the dry cleaning bill, he laughed at me. When I said I wasn’t joking, he seemed annoyed and said that I could. The owner (or whom I presume was the owner) was next to us and didn’t get involved.
Definitely not coming back, not even for dry cleaning or replacement of ruined shoes. Lack of their common sense and customer service...
Read moreThis wine bar is fantastic. I think it is a must visit when in Athens. It's only a short walk from the Acropolis Museum. Lots of Greek wines and very knowledgeable staff who are happy to talk about different wines and areas. The owner, Demos, has a fantastic knowledge of Greek wines and we were never disappointed in his choice. He would ask what sort of things we liked, fruity, rounded, mineral etc and then produce a Greek wine to match the requirement. His enthusiasm was infections and all the staff we met were equally passionate about the wine they serve. One of the staff is doing a Masters in wine with her thesis on minerality. Sounds like the research is fun. The food is well done and well presented but is really there to support drinking good wine rather than as the star attraction. Had we been in Athens longer we would certainly have done one of the €35 wine flights. Visit if you have a chance, let the staff select a wine to match. You will not be...
