Ταβέρνα Κέρκυρα — Restaurant in Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands

Disappointing place! After a long walk we decided to eat here because it looked good between the buildings, the man’s first asked us if we want to have a water. Nice, we were thirsty indeed. Same man was running up and down pretending they are busy that resulted we needed to remind him to bring an other water and a juice. He promptly brought the water then we needed to remind him to bring the juice as well after a few minutes. Food arrived, a fish and two chicken gyros plate that should have been served with fresh potatoes. The meat was shredded and extremely dry with some hard parts which happens if you reheat a meat in a microwave however it was not warm just lukewarm. The “fresh” potatos were definitely prepared earlier for some reason and was reheated in microwave too. Potatoes were not even cooked or baked properly so we left them all. Pita was nice as they don’t prepare it but they put salad dressing onto the pita… fish was somehow edible. They know obviously what they give to people as they don’t even ask if you like it or not like other restaurants. The man just pretended to be busy even there were like 3 other tables only…. I recommend to really avoid this place on your holiday. You can find really nice food and restaurants in Corfu but this. I don’t leave places negative review but this place well...

We were extremely surprised about the high rating, considering the food (quality, size) and service quality.

I ordered a small bottle of rose wine, got served an open rose, which I had noticed. Once I tried to return it, and explained that it isn’t good, I was told to order beer or coke instead. Once I insisted to get a closed small bottle of rose, I was served with a different rose than the first one (different color) but still in the same bottle, explaining that the restaurant tries to serve different wine in the bottles.

My friend ordered a salad with rucola, salad, tomatoes, cheese and other ingredients. She was served a salad with rucola and salad only. Once returned, she got a new salad topped up with beans and cheese (again nothing to do with the order and nothing to do with the salads on the menu).

The seafood moussaka was served cold and wasn’t tasty for 14 eur.

Service was bad, arrogant.

All in all, a very touristy place with non authentic food, I do not...

Bad food and grumpy waiters. Before sitting down, I was browsing the menu. The waiter asked me if there is something specific I am looking for so I asked if they had good, fresh and big mussels and he said 'yes of course, we have very good mussels here'. I was bought on that lie to sit down. These were the worst mussels I ever tried. They were rotten, stuck to the shelve, smelled terrible and were 10 of them in the plate. I ate 1 and stopped to avoid foor poisoning. I told that to the waiter and he argued a little. Was very unpleasant chat. Luckily for us the 15 euro rotten mussels were taken out of the bill at the end, so at least that. The other food we ordered were zuchini balls. They had a tasty crest, but were uncooked and runny on the inside. My husband ordered chicken souvlaki with potato mesh. In the plate there was 1 souvlaki and a few old fried potatoes. He said it was ok.
