ROAST AND COOK (new place) — Restaurant in Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands

Great new restaurant in Gouvia. I'm coming to Corfu and Gouvia for more than 15 years and I didn't see this place before. I was looking for take-away souvlaki to eat with my Greek friend, so it had to be really good! I passed this restaurant on my bicycle, and I was approached by Spyros the owner, a very friendly man. I ordered pork and chicken souvlaki and while waiting, he offered me a piece of apple pie, made by his wife. It was delicious and he didn't want me to pay for it. The souvlaki was very nice and tasty, and also my Greek friend loved it. I went back another time for to order take-away food again. One time when I passed on my bicycle again, he offered me a drink. Next time I will definitely go back to Roast & Cook, and try some other meals. Maybe because of the English name, people might think it is not real Greek food, but...

I recently dined at Roast & Cook in Gouvia and was thoroughly impressed. The stylish decor and warm ambiance set the stage for a fantastic meal. The staff were friendly and attentive, with Eleni providing excellent service.

The food was outstanding. The Pork Gyro was a standout, perfectly seasoned and juicy, offering an authentic taste of Greece. The Grilled Mediterranean Sea Bass was also perfectly seasoned. For dessert, the Orange Saffron Cake was a delightful surprise – moist, fragrant, and the perfect ending to a great meal.

We visited this place that specializes in Greek pita gyros and we were absolutely delighted! The food was excellent – fresh, well-seasoned, and perfectly portioned. The pita was soft and the meat nicely grilled.

But what truly made the experience special was the gentleman who served us. He was incredibly kind, smiling, and hospitable. He even added ice to our drinks without us asking – he just noticed it was hot and wanted to make us feel more comfortable. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare nowadays.
