I recently dined at Palazzo Restaurant in Chania, and unfortunately, it was a thoroughly disappointing experience. From the moment we arrived, the waiter's behavior left much to be desired. Instead of providing attentive service, he seemed more interested in overselling the menu and pushing us to order expensive items.
To make matters worse, the staff were unfriendly and lacked any sense of hospitality. Their impatience was evident as they continually pushed us to rush through our meal in order to close the service within two hours. It was clear that their priority was squeezing in two or three services during the night, rather than ensuring a pleasant dining experience for their guests.
Let's talk about the food. The prices at Palazzo Restaurant were exorbitant, and the quality did not justify the cost in the slightest. To start, simple bread for 4 persons cost 8€. Yes, you read that correctly – bread! Bottle of natural water cost a mind-boggling 3€, which is absurd by any standard since most of restaurant in Chania, tab water is excellent and free of charge.
Moreover, the service constantly pressured us to order more food and drinks, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere where we felt the need to rush through our meal. It was far from the relaxed dining experience we had hoped for.
As someone who has been in Chania for three years and has enjoyed numerous wonderful dining experiences, this was the first time I felt compelled to write such a negative review. I strongly advise you to avoid Palazzo Restaurant, especially if you're dining with your family. There are plenty of other establishments in the area where you can find much better quality food, more reasonable prices, and superior service.
Save yourself the disappointment and look elsewhere for a satisfying...
Read moreTerrible experience for us. We wanted to spend our last night in Chania in a restaurant on the old port, but we should not have been fooled by the view only.
We like to have a good meal while relaxing in the evening, well that was not it.
I mean, the food wasn't that bad, but the staff rushed everything in a way we never experienced before.
We ordered a cocktail, which we expected to drink at our own pace, before eating the starters, then the main course.
Well, the starter arrived in no time, and no cocktail in sight. So we had to drink it while finishing the starter. I hadn't even finished the starter when a waiter was already preparing the main course next to the table. We usually order a bottle of wine to go with the whole meal, but we dropped the idea, since everyhting was so fast. We would have had to drink the wine after the meal.
When we made the reservation during lunch time, the restaurant didn't seem as hectic, and we thought it would be nice.
But in the evening, it was like they were trying to free the table as fast as possible. Not our idea of a pleasant night out. We really felt rushed. It's like everything was over in almost 30 minutes.
Since we were so disappointed by the whole thing and told the staff that we wouldn't get dessert, they offered another cocktail for us to "relax", but we declined. They still offered us a digestive with the check. Nice gesture, but the evening was quite...
Read moreOur recent dining experience at Pallazo al Mare in Chania was truly beyond words. This fine dining establishment exceeded all our expectations with its exquisite cuisine and impeccable service.
We began our meal with the octopus appetizer, which was perfectly tender and flavorful, setting a high standard for the rest of the evening. The attention to detail in its preparation and presentation was immediately evident.
For the main course, we indulged in the linguine with shrimp and saffron, a dish that was a masterful blend of rich, aromatic flavors and fresh, succulent seafood. The balance of ingredients was impeccable, making each bite a delightful experience.
The highlight of the meal, however, was the tuna souvlaki with pineapple, green beans and avocado. This innovative take on a traditional dish was both surprising and delightful. The tuna was cooked to perfection, and the pairing with pineapple added a refreshing, tropical twist that was simply extraordinary.
Overall, Pallazo al Mare provided an unforgettable dining experience that was nothing short of amazing. From the stunning ambiance to the culinary masterpieces, every aspect of our evening was crafted to perfection. If you're in Chania and looking for a remarkable dining experience, Pallazo al Mare is...
