Will it be in the running for a Michelin star? No. But it is hands down the best place to eat on the harbour and our overall favourite place in the Old Town and Venetian Harbour.
The waiting staff are wonderful and we made friends during the week. We were given a lot of food and drink on the house and by the end of the week they didnt seem interested in taking our money at all (we tipped generously of course!)
We did also end up drinking with the staff 😄 very friendly, excellent memory of past visits and they always asked us about how our holiday was going. Just a very friendly place in general and we definitely noticed other repeat visitors, so it obviously works for them. The places with a salesman grabbing people off the street ought to take note.
We ate here on several occasions and every time was wonderful. The food is generally excellent and above average at worst, yet very reasonably priced. It would be easy to brush off as another very average tourist trap, and in a sense it sort of is where it places itself, but they do it very well. If you want finer dining, go to Moutapaki or Tamam or elswhere away from the harbour front. But for a good selection of typical Greek fare, seafood and Western cuisine, as well as good (and cheap) Cretan wine or a very ginny G&T then look no further!
We sampled more a less a bit of everything, no complaints!
Thank you to the staff for such a...
Read moreNever did I expect when sitting down on the waterfront of Chania to have somehow found myself front row to a UFC showdown. With the manager and staff at this restaurant kicking off with each other it made the dining experience very unpleasant. My friend and I were very well aware this would fall under the more touristy restaurant but we had been walking around tirelessly for close to 2 hours trying to find an authentic experience and ended up giving in to this place and the gleaming recommendation from the server our front.
We both ordered a pizza and when I say it was average I mean average at best. Definitely have had some frozen pizzas that strikes my stomach in a better manner than the aftermath that follow this dining experience.
To top it all off the uncomfortable presence of the 3-4 staff who were not doing anything except watching/lingering around our table as the sole customers definitely made the experience even more exciting to say the least.
Overall I think the restaurant has a lot of potential but unfortunately these types of restaurants always run the same cycle. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone unless you like making your trip in Chania about who can find the bathroom before completing the task in their...
Read moreAte here at least 3 times during our 3-day stay in Chania in 2024 and were VERY sad it was closed for the season when we returned this year - TERRIFIC cooking. Many “tourist traps” on the harbor don’t bother to do more than the minimum - this kitchen cares and it shows. Fresh ingredients, delicious recipes, precise cooking. This is our 4th trip to Greece and hands down they did the best Cretan salad and zucchini fritters we’ve ever had. PLUS the staff was warm, friendly, welcoming, and went above and beyond every time - even reserving a “front row” table for us on Epiphany (when the restaurant was PACKED and they could easily have given it to any number of patrons), and letting us keep our luggage there while we enjoyed the Epiphany festivities. Don’t miss the photos inside, documenting scores of generations of the owner’s family, as well as Chania locals going back 100 years, and vintage pics of the harbor. We will absolutely be back on...
