This comment is not about the food, but about how I was treated. Yesterday, 13th June, around 11:30 PM, my friend and I were returning from the port. I felt unwell and urgently needed to use the restroom. It's a normal human physiological need. I entered the first restaurant I saw and politely asked if I could use the restroom. The woman from the staff said it would cost 1 euro. I asked if I could pay by card because I didn't have any cash on me. She looked at me with disdain and said, "only cash." I replied that I didn't have any cash, and she said I couldn't use the restroom then. I left in discomfort but returned shortly after to tell her that she should show more humanity because she could be in my situation one day. We exchanged a few words, and I asked for her name to leave a comment on Google so that other tourists would know how guests are treated when they don't spend money on food.
When the woman realized I wanted to write a review about the restaurant, she suddenly said I could pay by card, etc. I hope no one will have to deal with such service in the future. Chania is a tourist city, and all these businesses function thanks...
Read moreLast place we are in Chania, should have been the first. Everything was incredible. We had the green salad, which was perfectly balanced so you could taste the halloumi, avocado, pear, figs, tomatoes, dressing, and the rest. The kebab was the best we’ve ever had (think kofta), and the chicken souvlaki was good but not outstanding (the potatoes and tzatziki were the highlights). Everything was well prepared and presented. The service is excellent and no nonsense (not super talkative which suits us fine, but pleasant). Had excellent classic jazz playing at the right volume, and even had paper placemats with fun Picasso sketches on them, which were a nice touch. Despite being really full, had to try the cheesecake, which was surprisingly light (unfortunately caused me to eat the whole thing) with a slightly maltier base than usual, which went very well with the delightful raspberry compote. Read moreAbsolutely wonderful! Extremely friendly woman who is the server. Immediately asked if she could help us explain some dishes. The falafel was delicious and also bigger than it seems on the pictures (also very filling) + the pasta carbonara was out of this world!! I have been to Rome but this carbonara took the cake. I've been craving it ever since my boyfriend and me shared our dishes at this restaurant. Very creamy and a good amount of pancetta. On top of that: they serve Aperol Spritz which was the most 'heavy' (read: delicious) tasting during my entire vacation in Chania for only €5! Falafel was around €7 and carbonara about €10. I'm sure it's even cheaper in low season. 5/5 recommend this place to anyone, it's way cheaper than the places at the harbour :) thank you, will come back for that carbonara if I visit...
