Greece desperately needs to consort with some Japanese people if they want to keep serving sushi, because this is now the second place we tried on our multiple week vacation, and both dishonor the art form. However, Wasabe was by far the lesser experience.
To start with, the Crab Rangoon had barely any filling to the point one of the 4 ordered was empty.
The miso soup was good, but way too big. Miso isn’t a meal, it’s a pre meal starter or an after meal digestive. Either way, bringing out a meals worth of miso is just unnecessary.
Now onto the sushi.
The sashimi was mushy; And this is the first time in a long time I checked for worms and or parasites based on the grade of the fish.
Akira Roll - Allegedly came with shrimp tempura but there wasn’t a crunch to be found. FYI - Tempura is supposed to be crunchy, not soggy. It also lacked flavor, or even tasted like half the ingredients it claimed to come with.
Crunchy Shrimp Roll - Once again lacked flavor and really skirted the line of tempura. If you’re going to tempura something - Commit; and the shrimp tasted more like fish than the sashimi. Lastly, way too much fried onions. Just a dash for flavor but I didn’t need the whole container.
To add insult to injury the rice was way overcooked to the point it was mush, and tasted reheated.
Lastly, they forgot a whole item I ordered, but after tasting the first roll they brought I sure as the day was long not going to mention it.
Overall, as someone who loves sushi, I cannot recommend this place to anyone. It was a massive disappointment, and to call what they serve sushi is an insult.
PS - Fortune cookies aren’t even Japanese. They aren’t even Asian, they originated in America....
Read moreIf you look at any of my reviews I taste sushi all over the world. I will say that this fish was very fresh. My salmon roll was as good as the salmon roll can get. Now admittedly it's just a salmon roll. I also got the noodles. Egg noodles, shrimps, chicken, broccoli, carrots and that was very good. Overall these two dishes 18€ So not terrible but not inexpensive either.
Now the service was really bad. Was not offered water at all which I'm starting to feel might be a thing in Crete has this has happened a few times now. There's outside area that has some summer insects which I found detestable, and inside that was kind of nice and upstairs that's out of the way. My waitress completely forgot that I was up there because I didn't see her for like 20 minutes and there were only five people in the restaurant Including two others on my floor. So now I have tried sushi in Athens and in Herakleion, I do not feel the need to go back. However, it was a very nice...

Visited it with my younger brother last night !
The staff was extremely friendly polite and the hostess had an amazing attitude and polite manners their prices were also fantastic considering we ate so little and our bellies were filled so much!!!
We also bought Sake which I've never had before in my life even though it was a bit watery it was nice considering how hard it is to find Sake in Crete and Greece in general!
Overall amazing experience I wish you all the best and I hope the staff gets a nice bonus for their excellent service !
A minor complaint were the toilets they were for both genders and as you can imagine, if I was a woman I would be disgusted but I can forgive it considering how nice and healthy...
