This is our second review following our second visit, our first review beginning...First evening meal in Kos...
I think that this is only the second time that we have eaten at the same restaurant twice on the same holiday, the first being on the island of Astypalea within the last two weeks, so I think the fact that we have now eaten here twice, thoroughly enjoying both times, and the restaurant being full when we left, is a strong indication how good 'Small Plates' here in Kos is.
In fact if you're staying local to the area I would recommend a visit. We enjoyed both our visits with highlight of the Meze being the liver & caramelised onions and the desert being the wonderful homemade cheesecake. But don't take my word for it, give it a try. I think you might like it.
First evening meal in Kos at Καπηλειό-Μεζεδοπωλείο-kapilio and we couldn't be happier with our choice.
Six Meze dishes of our choosing including creamy & garlic mushrooms, Mediterranean salad, sin pork, rocking chicken, spicy sausage stuffed with cheese and our particular highlight and favourite liver & caramelised onions.
A lovely evening, a host who was happy to talk to us about his dishes, and who provided a welcoming and friendly service.
Oh, the homemade blackcurrant cheesecake with syrup was probably the nicest, creamiest cheesecake I have ever had.
Accompanied by our usual house dry white wine. An inexpensive meal in a pleasant old Greek taverna for £35.
An excellent choice.

Read moreWe came here due to a recommendation from one of our hotel staff that knows the place well. We asked for a restaurant, where locals would go and were not disappointed. We came here several times with varying group sizes during our stay. Tables are indeed full of locals and Greek families. They also offer very pleasant live music some evenings. They have dishes and mezze that are not what you would usually expect on a menu and everything was always very good - whether veggies, meat or fish. We had various mezze but especially liked the garlic bread, meatballs, their unique gyros and the excellent grilled calamari and seafood pasta. The owners are pleasant and nice people, helpful with reccomendations.
