God-Awful Food w/ Equally Terrible Service — AVOID!
My sister and I went here for dinner after seeing that Matt Barrett recommended it. He's been spot-on with all other Greece-related tips I've followed, so I was shocked when this was legitimately the worst meal I've had all year.
I’ll paint the picture for you: My sister and I arrive here around 7:20 p.m. (they open at 7 p.m.). The only person we can find is someone in the kitchen who seems unsure about letting us sit down. We choose a table outside and wait about 15 minutes until the waitress showed up — sipping an iced coffee she had gotten nearby to go. She apologizes that she wasn't around, saying "no one is ever here this early so I got a coffee." We tell her that it's no big deal — we're not in a rush — and we order drinks. She starts to take the menu, so we explain we'll be ordering dinner too and then she awkwardly takes away one of our plates but not the other.
Eventually she comes back with drinks, we order off the very limited, disappointing menu of essentially dips, meatballs, fries and desserts, and wait. We got the meze trio (tzatziki, fava and spicy cheese dip with pita — also came with fries?), my sister got the meatballs (menu says this is served with roasted potatoes) and I order the chicken meatballs (also served with "roasted potatoes").
The dips were mediocre. Tzatziki was fine (the least preferred of the tzatziki we'd had in Greece), the fava was nothing like the mouthwatering fava I had had in Santorini the night before (go to To Pinakio!) and the spicy cheese dip was no different than a bar dip you'd get in the states. Entrees come out, and it's meatballs in literal frying baskets with not "roasted potatoes" but french fries. Meatballs are the driest meatballs I've ever had in my life — as if they took 99% lean meat and accidentally let it fry for an hour. Nearly inedible. We each had one and decided we'd cut our losses and find food elsewhere. The waitress never checked on us to see how we liked the meal.
In fact, the waitress wasn't interested in waiting on our table at all. (Note that we were the ONLY table with guests at the restaurant, with the exception of one couple next to us that was sipping on wine only.) Whenever we peeked into the restaurant to get her attention, she was on her phone, completely uninterested in doing her job.
After about 15-20 minutes of trying to get her attention, she finally looked up from her phone and I waved her over. We paid and left. The food here was relatively cheap in comparison to other restaurants in the area, but I'd honestly rather skip a meal than be forced to eat this garbage. Go...
Read moreThis lovely, authentic Greek restaurant is an absolute gem! Just a 2-minute walk from our hotel, it offers the most relaxed, chill vibe with Greek music playing in the background. The waiter was very kind and patient too.
We ordered the watermelon salad, Mykonian sausage, prawns saganaki, and moussaka, paired with Freddo cappuccinos. Every dish was full of flavour!!
We ordered four dishes which is perfect portion for 3 people. The watermelon salad was incredibly refreshing, crisp watermelon, mint, balsamic vinegar, and feta came together beautifully to elevate the sweetness and crunch. The Mykonian sausage had deep, rich flavor. The moussaka was soft, creamy, and deeply satisfying. And the prawns saganaki were cooked to perfection, tender prawns soaking up the rich tomato sauce, with just the right balance of sweetness, acidity, and savory cheese. I highly recommend the prawns saganaki in specific!
The hosts were so warm and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better.

Read moreI tried this place because the owner of Nudie in Athens told me the owner is celiac. It turned out the owner has a wheat allergy which I think isn't exactly the same 😅
Anyway the waitress spoke perfect English and she was very willing to help. I showed her my restaurant card and then she discussed the options with the chef. She brought a menu with the dishes that could be made gluten-free marked on the side. She also mentioned they have moussaka made with corn flour but it needed to go in the oven. I wanted to keep it safe so she recommended the grilled or fried dishes which required the least preparation. Therefore, I went for the grilled feta and the fried chicken.
I didn't expect a dessert but they offered to make yogurt with honey and walnuts which was simple and amazing 😋 at the end they also offered me a digestive.
I had no symptoms the next day so I would recommend to any celiac giving this place a shot keeping in mind that they are not super experienced with celiac but are very...
