really, really bummed about this review, because my first visit to this restaurant was amazing - so much so that i came back for my final meal in rhodes, even though i never repeat restaurants on vacation.
my second visit was unfortunately nothing short of awful and completely soured both my opinion of the restaurant and my final hours in rhodes. i arrived around 8:30pm and ordered a mixed grill with pita and tzatziki. the server verbally confirmed each line item, but i guess forgot to put in the order for the mixed grill. after waiting 40 min i asked another server if it was coming, and he said 1 minute. 1 min goes by, then he came back and said 5 more min. at this point i got suspicious, and after pressing him for details he admitted that the order was never put in. fine, i asked him how long, and he started getting defensive, refusing to give me a straight answer and essentially implying that i was in the wrong for asking after my food. then he straight up walked away.
i flagged down another female server to ask her if she could cancel my order, since i had a flight early in the morning, and she snapped at me, saying that the original server probably didn’t understand me when i placed my order. honestly the attitude was what shocked me more than anything, since i’ve had nothing but warm, attentive service since i arrived in rhodes a week ago.
all i wanted was a “sorry, we made a mistake but we’ll correct it,” but instead they refused to take accountability and tried to redirect the blame to me. what a shame, because the food is...

If you’re ever lucky enough to wander the charming backstreets of Rhodes and stumble upon Nihori, don’t think twice — go in and prepare to be blown away.
This small, family-run restaurant has been serving authentic, lovingly prepared food since the 1980s, and it shows in every bite. Grandma still runs the kitchen with her daughter and her granddaughters by her side, and it’s clear you’re being served not just food, but family tradition, history, and heart. You’ll feel like a guest at their table — warm, welcomed, and fed beyond belief.
The meat is some of the freshest you’ll find anywhere, sourced directly from the butcher shop next door, run by the son-in-law — a perfect setup that guarantees every dish is built on quality ingredients. Every cut of lamb, beef, or chicken is tender, flavorful, and impeccably cooked.
And for vegetarians — this place is paradise. The cheese balls are divine, with a crispy outside and soft, melting center. The meze spread is colorful, vibrant, and full of bold Mediterranean flavors that leave you wanting more with every dish.
The atmosphere is unpretentious and relaxed, with the subtle feeling you’ve discovered something truly special — a secret passed through word of mouth and grateful stomachs.
Thank you so much to the entire family for such an unforgettable experience — we’ll...
Read moreA really enjoyable meal at Niohori, a small family run restaurant just off of the main road.
Due to their food quality, these guys seem to have taken off recently with a mixture of social media and word of mouth and thus have most of their tables setup across both sides of a narrow road, however we were only waiting for ~10 minutes for a table, though this was at 21:15 so perhaps expect a little longer wait.
What is fantastic about this restaurant is they are directly opposite a Butchers and their menu largely consists of Greek staples and meat selections, so certainly not one if you are looking for some seafood for the evening (they offer calamari only).
The staff are in and out of the butchers collecting the meat for the meals and as such we had Lamb Chops and Veal Liver which were both divine. Their Tzatsiki was among the best we’ve had on the island so far too - we’ve been on a bit of a tzataiki tasting tour this trip and had it every day..!
Staff were very friendly, though slightly rushed off their feet, but it was really nice to see it kept within the family and we were helped by husband, wife and daughter during our meal.
The owner collects wine and offered us a bottle off-menu, which was really nice and overall a great experience, even if we were...
