Well, it's Santorini or Thera as Greeks call it. Small island with 2 cities and lots of sightseeing points. I definitely suggest to avoid go there with travel agency, use local buses instead to get to Heraklions port and buy tickets in advance for the speed ship. Sailing takes about 2 hours after you entry the new port under Oia, from there use local bus or taxi and after few minutes you enter the glorious city of Oia. Since ship returns after 7 hours you got plenty of time to stroll in the narrow streets with thousands of other visitors. Yep, this is first thing I want to note, there are just too many people on one relatively small place. Second is, if you have small child, do not take her/him over there. Read moreThe blue and white, and the ocean with cliffs are nice...BUT, what NOBODY tells you or show you its that its very hard to walk around and access the ruins of this castle, as there are no improvements to facilitate the access, its quite dangerous for old people, and a lot of trash like broken glass bottles and bear cans, cigarette butts. Basically, what no one shows on their pictures. But the trash is there. Since the stairs are with-in 50 FT from the way to the old castle ruins, you can smell the donkey excrement. Why?
