Fino is not just one of the best dining experiences in Oia, or in Santorini for that matter, but in all of Greece. We ate there twice during our stay on the island and both meals were among the best we've ever had. Do not miss out on this location while you're here: the quality of the food, cocktails, service, and atmosphere FAR outweigh what you give up in sunset views.
Main courses start at 20 euros and top out around 40, and that felt criminally underpriced for what we got. The menu changes yearly, but in 2022 the best dishes we experienced were the black cod (absolutely unreal) and the lobster ragout.
The cocktails were expertly crafted and averaged 13 euros. We decided on cocktails over wine because Fino seems to to excel in combining flavors across its offerings in unique ways, and we wanted to experience their singular perspective at each moment throughout our dinner. We did not regret this approach.
The service was lovely and heartwarming from start to finish. We made friends with almost everyone at the restaurant, and were lucky enough to chat with the head chef and his staff for quite some time during and after our meal. The chef's wife and their two year old daughter stopped by to check in on dad, and their love for each other made the experience all the more memorable. This is a place where you don't just soak in the meal and mixology, but where you are inspired by how life is being lived by the people who call this place home. As an American, we felt forever impacted by the soul of Fino and the people who make this restaurant special.
Our advice is to make a reservation at Fino for about 30 minutes to an hour after sunset. Before you go, have a bottle of Santorini wine while you watch the sun go down, then take a leisurely walk to Fino. It is an experience I won't soon forget, and in our opinion the best dinning experience the island...
Read moreSo to come to this place you have to apparently show proof of income. What do I mean by that? We were seated inside provided that we would need to eat not only get a drink. This is standard practice for some restaurant-bars, so again fine. Then, our journey to discrimination began: Our waiter seems to be able to only judge people by their appearance. We are 2 30-year olds from Greece. He was surprised by the fact that we came on vacation to the island since "Greek salaries are very low and it's not easy to visit our islands". So apparently he was shocked to see us there. Why? Would we need to belong to a certain age group? Dress or talk in a certain way? I don't share this reasoning or mentality. Then, after we finished our light dinner and wine, we asked for the bill. He rushed to tell us that he did not charge us for the bottle of water "which costs 4 EUR and -duh- it's ridiculous". What's ridiculous is to brag about not charging for the water in the first place and to insinuate that we would somehow thank the gods that we were spared these 4 EUR. Rejoice! For now we can afford 1 coffee with these 4 EUR and we consider ourselves forever indebted to the waiter and the restaurant. How about not making assumptions about one's background by their looks if we want to call ourselves educated, elegant, and classy? This would be a good start. The food was exquisite, hence the 1 star. Small quantities but...
Read moreI rarely take the time to write google reviews but Fino is a place that must be known to all. This is the best restaurant in santorini- from atmosphere, to food, to service, cocktails and beyond. If you’re visiting Santorini, Fino is a MUST! We arrived at 23:45 and we’re greeted very warmly by the staff, who were extremely friendly and let my picky girlfriend pick out the table (haha) the restaurant itself is impeccable in terms of cleanliness and design. we then were greeted by our waiter, Akis (Nathan) who had the best recommendations for dinner and also the best conversation and jokes throughout - he made a big portion Of our experience at Fino what it was. We had the ceviche and greek salad for starters, both probably the best we ever had, and then the lamb and cod, also some of the best we have ever had. The chef nailed the flavors for all the plates, there was nothing that needed more or less of anything, it was all perfect. Salt was perfect The desert was also one of a kind. Lastly, we asked Rodrigo for recommendations of what to do in the town snd he went into detail.. took the time to give his favorite recommendations for things to do, wineries, and all. If you’re in santorini and have one meal to eat, this would be it! Definitely one of the best dining experiences we have ever had.
Thank you Fino for the one of a...
