I recently visited this casual dining restaurant in Antigua Guatemala and was genuinely impressed with the overall experience. From the very beginning, the staff stood out for their professionalism, kindness, and attentiveness. I was welcomed warmly and guided through the menu with helpful recommendations, which made me feel well taken care of throughout my visit. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between casual and inviting. The space is clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged, making it suitable for both quick meals and longer gatherings with friends or family. Background music and lighting create a pleasant environment without being overwhelming. When it comes to the food, everything exceeded expectations. The dishes were freshly prepared, well-seasoned, and beautifully presented. Portions were generous, and the quality of the ingredients was evident in every bite. The menu offers a wide variety of options that cater to different tastes and dietary preferences, which makes it a versatile choice for diverse groups. Service was another highlight. Despite the restaurant being fairly busy at the time of my visit, the team worked efficiently and always with a smile. My order arrived promptly, and staff members checked in just the right amount—attentive without being intrusive. Pricing is very reasonable considering the level of quality, portion sizes, and service provided. It offers excellent value for money, which makes it stand out even more among other casual dining options in the area. Overall, this restaurant is a true gem in Antigua Guatemala. It combines great food, outstanding service, and a welcoming atmosphere in a way that makes every visit worthwhile. I will definitely return and would recommend it without hesitation to both locals and visitors looking for an excellent...
Read moreBarriga is my favorite restaurant in Antigua and I make a point to stop in on every visit for at least one meal. First the atmosphere is super chill and welcoming. All of the staff are really friendly- Daniel has been my server the past few times I’ve visited and he’s super sweet, and Mario the chef is an all around dope individual. Then the food and drinks are outstanding. I usually get the mezcal Paloma. It’s perfecttt. Sitting at the bar vibing with a delicious cocktail and cool music is the best way to close out a trip to Antigua. Then the food. Everything I’ve had has been great, although I haven’t had a chance to try everything on the menu. The dumplings are a star, the tiradito - 10/10, no notes. I love the veggies, I had a roasted cabbage there the last time I went when they were doing a collab with a chef from Guatemala City. Out of this world. I really...
Read moreThe decoration of the place hooks you, it has a very good concept, the waitress was excellent and you can tell she knows the menu well and probably her recommendations would have been a good option.
Unfortunately we ignored them and decided to try the fried chicken and fish and chips.
Both dishes were the most expensive fried food I have paid for in a long time, the problem is not the price, was the taste. I do not recommend ordering this, it was of very poor quality and oily, including the fries, we went with an appetite and ended up disappointed with the food.
If I go back again I will probably heed the recommendations and avoid formally ordering some of the items on the menu. But I think that these types of places once they become famous start to lose quality...
