Mr Taco Mexican Food — Restaurant in Sacatepéquez

Not sure if it was because we got here 30 minutes before it closed or they were just having a bad day but we were very disappointed with the tacos here. Dry, tasteless and just not enough onion and cilantro. Super underwhelming.

Our server also neglected to tell us a 10% service charge was added to our bill so that was a bit sneaky!

UPDATE TO THE RESPONSE: I have now changed my review from a 3 star to a 2 star after receiving the defensive reply from the restaurant which contained complete lies.

I am not sure what monitoring system you claim to use but half of the things you said in your reply were definitely not offered to us.

We were offered additional sauce which we accepted however our waiter never offered us additional cilantro or onions but kept coming back to get us to order a cocktail or ice cream.

We would have appreciated the offer for additional toppings as my chicken tacos were flavourless and all our tacos had minimal filling. Though my girlfriend did enjoy her lengua tacos despite them being sparse hence the initial mediocre review.

It was near the end of the shift and our waiter seemed very tired so we were not about to send back our food and didn't feel in a position to complain. We actually wouldn't have even considered ieaving a review until the waiter added on the 10% tip when he brought over the card machine to settle our bill. We were definitely not notified about the tip. The only reason we caught it was because my girlfriend thought the total seemed higher for our 2 orders of tacos and 1 drink.

When we queried it with our waiter he confirmed it was gratuity and definitely did not give us the option to remove it as your reply claims.

I find it appalling that your response to my review is one of defence and lies rather than being receptive to the constructive criticism and using it to improve your business.

I had a disappointing experience here. After seeing so many good reviews online, my partner and I came here for lunch. We ordered and despite there being only one other table there, waited 40 minutes for our food and our drinks. When we repeatedly asked where our drinks were, we were told that they were coming but only arrived a couple of minutes before the food. The food was bland and greasy, and left both of us with stomach issues later on. With the service, the waiter completely ignored me as a woman and instead doted on my male partner. Even when I got my purse out to pay and handed it to him, he took my money, thanked my male partner and then gave him the change, which felt a bit gross in 2025. Also to try and get good reviews they will stand over you asking for you to leave one in exchange for providing watered down tequila, which feels a bit disingenuous and makes you wonder how many of the reviews are legitimate. When we got there mid day they were out of almost everything, even though only a few people were there. They told us the only things they had left were birria and carne asada tacos. We came to get the machete so we were a little bummed but whatever.

We ordered the birria and carne asada tacos. When they came out the carne asada tacos clearly were not carne asada. They were either carnitas or shredded chicken. When we pointed this out the waiter insisted that they were asada tacos. After he said that, he went to the kitchen and we saw him laughing with the chefs. We overheard him talking to the next customer and he said they only had birria tacos left… So he lied about our tacos being carne asada and charged us the higher price, even when we asked him a second time about it.

Overall, the taco servings were small and we were bothered about being lied to. There’s also a large tax that other restaurants in the area...
