Outstanding Pre-Tattoo Pick-Me-Up They say you should never get your first tattoo on an empty stomach, so my brother and I set out for a pre-ink power-up and stumbled into the magic that is Lá table! in Budapest. This little bistro looks family-owned, feels family-owned, and, judging by the warm welcome, probably is family-owned. We both braced ourselves, not for needles, but for the sheer delight of their frontage sandwiches. Mine was loaded with bacon and cheese (because, obviously), while my brother’s had chorizo and cheese. Whether you call it personal taste or a sibling rivalry with pork products, each bite was so good I nearly forgot about the looming tattoo needles. The flavors boosted our blood sugar (important!) and our bravery by at least 50%. The staff made us feel right at home. There were smiles, helpfulness, and zero judgment for nervously carbo-loading at 9 a.m. The place itself is charmingly cozy. If comfort food were a location, it would look like this. Five stars for great sandwiches, friendly folks, and for giving us the courage to survive our first tattoo sessions (fainting avoided). If you’re in Budapest, drop by Lá table! Whether you’re facing a tattoo gun or just a Monday morning, you’ll leave happier than...

Food: French inspired breakfast chain
A small chain of breakfast shops selling pastries and some bread dotted around Budapest. Against my making criteria which is strict, three stars is above average and worth a visit. Generally it’s reliable and consistent. In places like this I recommend you order simply and you’ll unlikely be disappointed. On this visit the Hollandaise sauce was cold and the poached eggs were not runny. It also had an unnecessary salad garnish which isn’t really breakfast like but overall it tasted reasonably good. The service was cordial and they spoke English. Of you can’t find somewhere else then this is a good place to go.
What I liked:
• Good coffee (served in a novelty cup) • Decent size table • Reasonable price point
What I didn’t like:
• Not the cleanest place
Do I recommend going? YES Will I go again? YES Was it good value?...
Read moreVery authentic little French bakery.
The place itself is fairly small, and can get crowded a bit unfortunately. The interior is decorated like a typical French bakery. You can walk in for freshly baked goods, or sit down for a breakfast.
They offer various breakfast meals, from typical French, Hungarian, and just simple world breakfast. As well as cold and hot drinks. The portions are decent. The prices are a bit higher than usual, but for the area and the quality acceptable.
The baked good, taste just like in France, I haven’t been able to find a baguette as good outside of France.
Menu is offered in both Hungarian and English Cash and card payment Staff speaks English
Only minus point, my hot chocolate had a hair in it, which was...
