Blue Bird Roastery — Restaurant in Budapest

We had a great experience the first day, with amazing service from a Portuguese server! We loved the food so much we decided to come back the next day. Unfortunately, today (27 April 2025) was a very different story and at the ‘Roastery’ location (with another staff member).

The service was shockingly rude, so much so that we honestly had to laugh at how ridiculous it was. When we asked to pay, we were told, “Yes, when I’m not busy,” and when other customers asked for a menu, they were met with, “I’ll bring it when I’m not busy,” despite there only being three tables. Definitely not okay behavior for hospitality.

The owner should really take a look into this because this staff member is absolutely not suited for customer service.

I’m still giving 3 stars because the concept and food are good, but today’s experience definitely needs serious attention. Also worth mentioning: today the portion was noticeably smaller, the bread was missing, and the English breakfast came with two mini sausages instead of the two big ones we got yesterday and also a rash of bacon less… We were still...

Terrible service at this place. We ordered our breakfast at 9.45 and was served coffee and orange juice after 20 minutes. The incompetent waitress didn’t realise that our order ticket got lost until I noticed a neighbouring table receiving their food even though they had arrived half an hour after us. We tried to stay patient, as it was our holiday and waited an hour and a half in total. I asked several times, how long we would have to wait. The waitress just shrugged shoulders and explained we would have to wait a long time as the lunch service was about to start. No apology, no intention to get us our food just lame excuses. Great Atmosphere and Friendly Staff

I had a nice experience at Blue Bird Roastery! The staff were incredibly friendly, especially the Persian girl I had a lovely chat with. It’s always nice when someone approaches and talks to you, especially when you’re alone. It made my visit feel warm and welcoming.

The coffee was delicious—I had a cappuccino with a triple shot, which was just perfect! The location is fine, situated right in front of the synagogue. However, it can get a bit noisy, and the parking lots somewhat disturbed the view.
