A nice and cosy place which is directly in the Goszdu Udvar with some good old and drinking options. The music is sometimes a little bit loud but you can have a nice evening with friends.
Food and Drinks We ordered two traditional Hungarian dishes. The Csirkepaprikas Galuskaval (Paprika Chicken with Spaetzle) for 4200 Forint and the Guyasleves (Goulash Soup) for 2500 Forint. Both dishes are reasonable and you will definitely do nothing wrong when you will order them for a quick bite. You need to know that it is a Bistro, which is directly located in the Party Road. And therefore it was a good option with a good taste. For dinks we went for some local beer and one bottle of sparking wine (Peszgö) from a Hungarian wine yard: The Kreinbacher Brut Classic for 8900 Fortint. It had a good temperature and we got a huge wine cooler with a lot of ice. All in all it was a very good option.
Restaurant The Bistro is located in the Goszdu Udvar and you have some sitting options inside a some outside. The chair was okay but nothing for a very long evening, but still okay.
Service Out Service Staff Milan did a good job and he was really friendly. unfortunately the drinks took a while after we place the order. After 10 Min we did not received the bottle of water, so that we need to ask again. The Bistro was good booked, but not overcrowded.
Location The Bistro is located directly in the Heart of the most popular party street in Budapest. There a some more Restaurants and Bars as well. You can easily use the Goszdu Parking Garage, if you are coming by car. But if you are walking by, that you will definitely all into the Bistro, after entering the...
Read moreGreat food on a great location. If you want to eat something nice, I definitely recommend it.
For starters, grab the nachos. They come on a platter with guacamole, cream and cheese, and they taste great. However, there could’ve been a bit more cheese.
For the main course, we had the sausage with sourdough bread, and the standard burger. I recommend getting the sausage (it’s a little spicy, just perfect), but I don’t recommend the burger (it’s meh, nothing special). Also, try their Blondie beer, and skip their porter beer.
The staff are very friendly and nice, but they are a little slow.
Also, be aware of the 15% service charge!!! And on top of that, they will still ask for an additional tip.
Oh and another thing: either pay in cash or with card that allows you to pay in forints (like revolut, Wise or a Hungarian card). Their exchange rate is a criminal. The Google exchange rate is ~400 HUF for 1 €, and their exchange rate is 370HUF for 1 €. I paid with a card that allows me to get charged in forints, and the difference was almost 10% of...
Read moreWe were there on a Saturday around 9 pm with a total of 7 person. Since it was very crowded, it took 15 minutes until someone came to take our drink order and then another 20 minutes until our drinks arrived.
The waitress who brought our drinks (dark hair in a bun, dominant eyeliner) was totally unfriendly. When she first mentioned the drink, we had to ask twice, because we didn't understand her (the music was very loud). When we finally understood what the drink was, she rolled her eyes and very cynically placed the drinks on the table. The last drink she really slammed on the table. Furthermore, no waiter came to ask only once if we wanted to order another round of drinks or something - but there was also no waiter to be seen.
Suddenly another waitress came and told us to please leave the restaurant, as we had not ordered anything. (but she was very friendly, it's not her fault)
And for such a service, a service fee of 14.5 is automatically charged. Disclaimer: There were also other quick and friendly waiters who were not responsible...
