Custom House — Restaurant in Budapest

The food was well prepared,the Americano disgusting as it was not even Americano but warm water with slight taste of some bad quality coffee and unfortunately the waiter had awful attitude. As I entered the place I walked towards a table for 4 and he aggressively told me “No, sit here “ showing me a smaller table, which was fine though as I understand that they need bigger tables for bigger groups of customers. But then a solo man customer speaking in Hungarian entered the place and asked if he could sit alone in a 4 people table and the waiter let him do that. Afterwards, although I ordered almost 10 minutes earlier from the other customer , I got served much later then him. So this whole attitude is definitely discriminative to me, horrible, disrespectful and unprofessional .Wouldn’t ever go to that place neither...

We had breakfast at Custom House, and it was a pretty good experience overall. The bagels with salmon and avocado were absolutely awesome – a real treat for the taste buds. The scrambled eggs were tasty too, although they were a tad on the salty side.

The restaurant's location is great, right in the heart of things, which adds to its appeal. However, we did have to wait quite a while for our relatively small order, even though the place wasn't very crowded at the time. Additionally, the prices were on the higher side, but that's somewhat expected for a restaurant in such a central location.

All in all, Custom House is a solid choice if you're looking for a tasty breakfast, especially if you don't mind a bit of a wait and are prepared for the central city pricing. Those bagels alone are...

The food here is outstanding—it blows your mind. The savory dishes were delicious and presented with incredible attention to detail; the croque madame was fantastic. The real magic is in the sweets—I tried waffles and banana bread. A flavor combination that delivers a true WOW effect is extremely rare. Banana sorbet, caramelized pecans, fresh strawberries, and mango purée (if I remember correctly) turn the seemingly plain banana bread into something you’ll dream about; the same goes for the waffles. If you’re in Budapest, have breakfast here—you won’t regret it. This is the first time I’ve visited the same place twice in two days on a short trip.
