We went to this place for brunch one morning as it had great reviews here. Our experience started off well enough, we had a brief wait as the waitress attended to a group leaving so we could have their vacated space as the place is very small. She was very pleasant. The menu all sounded lovely and a note saying they didn't alter any dish on request because the blend of ingredients was specific to what they wanted to present built up our expectations for a wonderful brunch. I ordered the French toast as did my friend while my other friend ordered the glass noodles. The wait for our food was longer than anywhere else we ate in Budapest but the food looked amazing when it came (see photo of French toast) and we were very excited for it, which added even more to our disappointment. Despite all the colors and beautiful presentation of the food, it was the blandest thing I've ever tasted. It was like pieces of stale bread with cornflakes stuck on just lending it more dryness. Then a blend of soft cheese and berries topping it. Again the cheese taste of nothing and the only hint of flavor was from the berries but even at this I had to get a whole berry in a bite of bread and cheese to get this fleeting flavor and there wasn't enough berries to get one in every bite. I did finish the food (except for the crusts which were just too dry to even force myself to eat) because I was very hungry, was going to have to pay the equivalent of €6 for it, and was raised to always be polite so have a stomach for finishing food I don't like. My friend who also had the French "toast" agreed completely with my criticisms and my other friends experience of the glass noodles was that they were also bland with a slight after taste of chilli. We were surprised at this stage that the place was so busy that people were queuing and waiting for seats, and I was tempted to say to them to spend their money somewhere worth it but I decided to save it for this review. Budapest has the best food places, and everywhere else we ate in our four days there were incredible so I strongly advise to find these delicious places and steer clear of this bland establishment. In response to owner's question:...

Szimply Coffee completely blew us away! From the moment we walked in, we felt the cozy and vibrant vibe of the café. The menu was full of creative options, and everything we tried was simply outstanding.
The food: The dishes were as beautiful as they were delicious. The vibrant fruit bowls were bursting with freshness and topped with edible flowers, adding a touch of elegance. The avocado bagel salad was a perfect balance of textures and flavors, and the eggs benedict were a masterpiece—perfectly poached eggs with rich, creamy hollandaise on artisan bread. Every plate was a work of art!
The coffee: Absolutely top-notch! The lattes were smooth, creamy, and crafted with precision, showcasing some amazing latte art. It’s clear the baristas here know what they’re doing.

Read moreThat's one of the tiny cool food places of Budapest that offers more than you'd think at first sight. This boutique place is in the heart of Budapest in one of the inner courts of our century old buildings (it's actually a shortcut between two streets/blocks - one of those great things you can discover for yourself in a large historical city like this). The charm of the location brushes over any peeling paint and you can feel the atmosphere of past eras and for me like a time machine bringing back those nice autumn days at university. The food selection is small but well thought through (changes frequently as I understood, the chéf being creative). Smart solution that opposite the food place there's the café belonging to it. My choice of sous-vide venison could be served in any of the top restaurants. The tasty pumpkin cake looks like painting - really nice presentation. Coffee is good. Any wandering fellow citizens or hungry visitors could only have a...
