Zsiráf — Restaurant in Budapest

We went there with 3 of my friends. At first everything looked good, found a table, ordered beer, started talking, all great. Then as time goes on, music gets louder step by step and at 7-ish it was already so loud we barely heard each other. The place is full of tables, there’s no dancing space so I really don’t understand why they have to turn up the music this much. The other thing is there were a reserved table and someone from staff wanted to pick out one of the chairs from under us for them while we were still drinking. Excuse me… ? The Zsiráf IPA is rubbish. We tried to order a tequila gold at 8-ish, they were already out. The last bad part is there are no separators inbetween the urinals and they are quite close to each other. Disappointed with the system – what’s the point of being “sustainable”?

We were really surprised and honestly disappointed by the drink policy here. Instead of giving you a glass or cup with your drink, you have to buy a Plastik Glass to get it. Then, when you return it, they don’t refund your money—instead, they give you a plastic coin, and you can change it again for a plastic back next time when you are back.

We asked for our money back since we’re not from this country and can’t use this strange system again, but they refused. If this is meant to be a sustainable, environmentally conscious place. Why are you giving out plastic glasses and plastic coins? It doesn’t make sense.

The whole system just felt confusing and unfriendly to visitors. Wouldn’t recommend unless you’re okay with paying extra for something that’s supposed to be included—and walking away with a useless...

Never have I experienced a strange terraces venue in Budapest like this one, where they charge a deposit for the plastic cup without informing the client, and only inform customers when asked about the extra charge. We ordered a small pint of beer and lemonade, which cost about 4000huf, and the bar guy informs when the cups are returned they only give a token to reuse for next time! What about the refund of deposit. He.didnt answer this question. What a ridiculous return policy is this. I wanted to interject after hearing this, but my friend didn't want to argue with the unfriendly bar tender, so I left it that way. I would recommend customers to always check and ask for suspicious charges in this city, because they do it often for tourists, especially those who don't read Hungarian.
