When we first visited here, we were greeted, attended to, and served by a very kind lady. She even had a sweet dog named Boroka, with whom we spent quite a bit of time. The service was good, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the food was very tasty. I especially loved their hamburgers.
After a year, when we returned to Budapest, this was one of the places we most wanted to eat at. However, unfortunately, we encountered a different attitude than what we remembered and expected.
When we entered, there were two ladies behind the bar. They saw us, said hello, but just continued their conversation without paying much attention. We chose a table upstairs and sat down. No one came for a long time to bring us the menu or take our order. When my wife noticed the oddity and went downstairs to inquire, they told her that the restaurant was self-service and they didn't serve tables. She placed our order and they said they would let us know when it was ready.
In the meantime, another table next to us got occupied. They were not tourists like us and didn't seem unfamiliar with the restaurant. It was quite obvious that they didn't know about the self-service and were waiting. The waitress brought our food and also left a menu for them. Later, she took their order and served them. So, was this place self-service or not? If it was, why didn't they inform us when they clearly understood we were foreigners and left us waiting at the table for a long time? Or why did they bring the menu and serve the other table without saying anything? It was a very unpleasant and serious inconsistency.
The food wasn't as tasty as we remembered. We thought maybe the management of the restaurant had changed. When we leaving, we asked the waitress about Boroka and the lady. The response we got was that there were never such people here. She said we might have confused it with another place and was very sure of herself. Since I didn't like her tone, I showed her old photos I had taken at the venue on my phone to prove that we didn't confuse anything. She vaguely dismissed us. We left, thinking that she might be a new employee there.
I'm sharing this experience because consistency is important in every aspect for a restaurant. Your taste, service, and the attitude of your employees should all be consistent. We saw inconsistency in all of them. We had a wonderful experience at your restaurant before, and maybe even remembering the name of someone's dog who had worked there for a very short time. The service and taste played a big role in that. Now, we don't know what to expect if we...
Read moreWe were looking for a place to have a bite at around 11, almost went to a Burger King, when we decided to check this pub out. I didn't think that they would still serve food at that time, but luckily they did. We got tomato soup and pulled pork burgers with fries. The guy serving spoke very good English and he was pretty nice. The food arrived pretty fast, and let me tell you that it did not disappoint. First of all, the portions are huge. The burger was juicy and the tomato soup had a good flavour, all at a reasonable price. They have a nice selection of beers, but also pretty good wine served in glasses. At around 12 people were still coming in and the atmosphere was pretty cool. If you're coming for a bite or just a drink, want to hang out with young people, you can't go wrong...
Read moreI went here as there was a Couchsurfing event taking place upstairs. Not only was the time incorrect but the actual event seemed nothing more than a money making exercise. The service, professionalism and conduct of the bar staff was downright disgraceful.
You waited at the bar whilst staff chatted to each other. Locals and regulars got served before you. No smile, “ can I help you or next please “ There were many nationalities there and a simple Hi or Hello is universal. It felt like you were imposing.
The Couchsurfers were left upstairs. The host didn’t care, had no organisation or communication skills. Many of us were appalled as we’ve been to other meet ups in other countries. The staff and organisers should be ashamed...
