Smelly fish balls with fries from the salt mines.
Well had I seen the reviews online before coming to this fake Irish Pub, we never would’ve come. We live in Budapest and my spouse is Hungarian and speaks the language, he teaches it actually. My first instinct on arrival was run away but it was a dark and stormy night, bla, bla, bla. The menu had maybe 4 food items on it and I was in the mood for fish and chips and thought ‘who does it better than the Irish?’, it was about 15€ but hey, if it’s good, I’m game. First off my spouse ordered that for me and a schnitzel for them, both with fries, and told the waitress that we both don’t like salt and need to avoid it for health reasons. She thought that the salt was already added to fries but would see what she could do. The food arrived and of course more salty than anything we’ve seen on fries before. We do couldn’t eat them but nobody was around to say something to. We had to brush off every fry from salt with our fingers before eating any. The fish…..wow, they were like deep fried balls of dead fish, smelly and tasteless, and when I bit into it, grease poured out onto my face. The male waiter told me he thought it was tuna but didn’t know really, the menu just says ‘fish and chips’… If McDonalds had fish and chips, I’m sure it would be less greasy. Finally saw the male when I went to the washroom, and I told him about the salt issue and the female waitress denied that we said anything about the 🧂 salt. Our drinks were gone, and we were just waiting for the bill to put this fiasco behind us and the female waitress arrives at our table with a plate of unsalted fries. Of course it’s too late now, especially after feeling unwell. If you read reviews, don’t take this one with a grain of salt…….maybe choose the fancy Scottish restaurant with the big M out in front and save yourself 40€. My spouse did say that a cook was seen in the kitchen and looked very young and...
Read moreDO NOT ENTER. OF ZERO STARS we arrive at this place where the welcome is zero, having said that, we order two beer menus, other beers in the center and three cicchetti, the waitress with a look like "why did you come here to drink" takes the order and whatever, we didn't wait long also because there were 5 of us plus another table of two. meanwhile the waiters were huffing and puffing as if there was no end. we paid a service "3000 huf" to only make us look bad. Tipping here in Hungary should not be mandatory but optional, I would not have tipped these two waiters. I hope they are not the owners because they don't do their job properly. in Italy the service is better than here (generally speaking throughout Hungary). as I had already read in other reviews (maybe it's because we are Italian). never again... I advise against it to everyone, .....DO NOT...
Read moreI'd give no stars if possible, nothing Irish about this bar except the over priced Guinness, and this is coming from an Irish person, sat for a few minutes before getting any service, the woman was too busy having the craic with ignorant male customer's wolf calling and clapping other women pedestrians walking past the bar, got a drink after a few minutes, after finishing the drink we sat with empty glasses at the table for 10 minutes while the waiter and waitress had the laughs with the people at the door ignoring the customer's sitting outside, when we finally got their attention we got the bill to leave and there was a 13% service charge, not uncommon in budapeast but for a place that you get no service your made to pay for f all, stay away from this hole, they shoud be made to remove Irish from their title cos that's not what we...
