Not a restful stay at all! First of all the good- the hotel is in close enough proximity to the Danube and walkable to many sights and the underground, without being above/next to clubs or bars. There is free tea and coffee and water fountain in lobby However that is where it ends. The rooms are fine, but small. With two people a superior room you would struggle. There is a double bed but single duvets
The main issue was the noise. It was SO noisy during my entire stay. There is construction immediately next door, this should have been made known at time of booking. I was woken every morning around 8am with drilling and the sensation of my room vibrating. I was told there’s no point to move rooms as it can be heard allover the hotel. You could not even relax in the lobby! It was audible at breakfast, in the hallways, in the loft even. Absolutely terrible! I have a back condition and it’s important for me that I may rest when I need to,sometimes in the am and other times after some walking. However it was so noisy it was impossible to relax. There was also ridiculous thumping music around 7:30 am - i belive it was coming from the gym!!! Sirens also never seem to stop neither does the bell tower next door.
There is no room service, no slippers or robes, no help with baggage- no basics of a 4* hotel. Even the reception staff don’t greet you as you come in and out.
To sour my trip one last time, I went to have a nightcap on my last evening in the hotel bar- I was told open till 1am each night. I arrived just before 11. The bartender looked at me as though I had 3 heads. When I asked for a menu he looked puzzled. I asked what was the issue, you are open aren’t you? -“that depends”! SO incredibly rude. I explained I was staying there and would like just one drink. He responded “well I would like to close in 10 minutes”. His attitude absolutely stank! I couldn’t belive they would talk to paying guests this way- it’s like they don’t want the business? (There was a table in the bar of people and music was on so very much open seemingly).
For the noise complaint I was compensated just 1 night and given a free airport transfer (approx £25 value), the driver was on his phone whilst driving in heavy rainfall, didn’t feel very...
Read more-Location: Perfect centrally located and easily walkable streets. Several restaurants with in one block. -Build: very modern and chic. Beautifully designed from wallpaper to the furniture and lighting. Perfect AC through out. Very quiet. -Rooms: So you have hotel rooms and then you have the "suites." I'm assuming the people who mentioned rooms were small did not stay in a suite. I stayed in a junior suite which was very spacious with lots of cabinets and storage. Comfortable beds and bedding. Bottled water in the mini fridge was replaced daily as were Nespresso coffee pods. Lighting can be a bit tricky to figure out initially. Bathrooms were equally beautifully designed. The shower doors were not 100% effective and occasionally had water coming out while showering. Only thing missing that I would have liked is a microwave and an iron with an ironing board. -Fitness Center / Gym had sufficient equipment for a hotel of this size. Free weights, 2kb's, 2 machines, two treadmills, and a spin bike. There was also a small sauna that was interestingly not very privately designed, seemed more of an afterthought in terms of building it into the gym. Nonetheless they seemed very nice and modern. -Front Desk: check in and out was efficient and friendly. Note that there are residencies as part of this building. As such there is a particular entrance for them. This wasn't mentioned prior to our arrival but had no issues with someone letting us in. In the lobby you will find a lovely free coffee machine for your cappuccino-latte needs. -Bar, restaurant SECCO: By far the best drinks in Budapest. Even after going to trendy bars and rooftops throughout Budapest we always came back to the hotel bar for drinks. In addition they had a happy hour during our stay. Unfortunately it's not a very well staffed restaurant-bar so just be patient with this one man show and you'll be rewarded with the best drinks. The bar food menu is very limited - more like snacks so don't have high...
Read moreOur original accommodation was cancelled by the host upon our arrival in Budapest so we had to spend 5 hours looking for an alternative and this is what we found. And I'm so glad we did, since it turned out the Ferrari F1 team were also staying here!! Due to the short notice we had to move to different rooms for our few nights staying there, but that was fine and didn't disrupt our plans too much. We stayed in a nice room the first night, was moved to a huge suite on the 8th floor the second night, with an amazing view, and then finally to another room for our last 2 nights stay. The staff were excellent, rooms very clean and well stocked with mini fridge, TV, safe and toiletries, although the practical execution of the bathrooms could be improved, with one walk-in shower flooding the rest of the bathroom, and another rooms' shower-over-bath had the splash screen installed at the opposite end!! Despite these details, the hotel decor is incredibly contemporary and stylish, there is an amazing on-site restaurant/cafe (although we preferred to eat out and explore the beautiful city of Budapest), and there is also a luggage locker room in the basement where we could leave our bags after check out whilst we had our last few hours souvenir shopping. Not the cheapest hotel in the city but incredibly competitive and we were very lucky to get the rates we did (average of €300 per night for the two of us). We even got to meet some of the Ferrari mechanics and engineers once back from the...
