Hipster place with hipster waiters who are more concerned with having a good time than they are with providing decent service. Now I don't have anything against hipsters and truth be told, the location is great and if you're looking to get some work done in a nice setting then this is a good choice. In fact if you're in the area you should check it out...once. They two stars from me though because of the service. We met here with some friends last week and we sat not far from the big glass sliding door that leads outside to the courtyard. The waitress regularly forgot to close it behind her and so we had to keep getting up to close it ourselves. At least half a dozen times. I asked her to turn the music down a bit for a little while because I couldn't understand what my friends were saying. It was the morning and there were hardly any other guests there so I didn't think this was an unreasonable thing to ask. She shrugged it off and then clearly went over to the other waitress to complain. She didn't turn the music down and after a few minutes she actually turned the music UP. Eh. Really? Anyways you'll probably have a perfectly fine time but I'm going to avoid it for the foreseeable future. Unfortunate, because it's obvious that the owners put a lot of effort into making the place a good place to chill, so it has a lot of potential. I'll update my review if things change. P.s. their "menu" is overpriced and bland and they usually run out of it by early afternoon, and their coffee is nothing to...
Read moreWe found this place on a OffbeatBudapest listicle. We visited for brunch on our 7th day in Budapest. We've had a mix of all kinds of world cuisine and this has to be one of our best meals mainly because the food was flavourful, not at all bland, with a hint of chillies and the price was right.
We ordered Tortillas & Sandwiches with a pitcher of lemonade, delicious...
The cafe's located on quiet side street. The interior and back garden are spacious and there's a lot of seating. The staff was friendly and service wasn't quick, but wasn't slow either. Unlike most places, service charge wasn't included in the bill so don't forget to tip if you enjoyed yourself!
There was just one irritant that they may like to address, which was a walking tour of about 15 people who came in, maybe because of the historic nature of the location. They stayed for 5 to 7 minutes. The guide was very loud and the people were standing all around us blocking the way so we couldn't move. This was pretty evident because one customer who was sitting in the garden was struggling to get to the indoor part of the restaurant and he tripped over some chairs which were behind us. I'm sure that these tours bring in more business for the cafe, but there has to be some another way without inconveniencing...
Read moreNice ambience and reasonable drink options but dead WiFi and unhelpful staff. Gets REALLY HOT in the summer and no AC or even Fans.
First thing I noticed was it has a nice ambience but very warm inside and there was not even a fan to help with the heat. But since I saw this cafe featured in one of the laptop friendly cafe lists, I decided to give it a try.
It turned out that it wasn't very digital nomad friendly at all. The wifi was completely out while I was there for 2 hours and the employees didn't seem to care much. The first person I spoke to kept saying "I don't know!" and keep pointing me to the wifi password. I had to explain the problem over and over, and I had to really try hard to demand to speak with her manager. The manager agreed to reset the router but the network was still unavailable with the error message. He insisted that it is temporary thing but as you can see in the error message, this is something he has to work with his provider.
Enough drink options and vegetarian friendly food but I highly recommend against going there for some 'work in a cafe' purpose as the employees don't seem to care much and unprofessional. Probably it was too warm inside and they were perhaps tired...
