I have been living in Budapest for 3 years and I’ve been to "Yugo Resto Bar" several times back when it was called Unkija Bar & Grill, and I’m happy to say the recent name change hasn’t affected the quality of the food or service. The food is still as delicious as ever! If you’re into grilled meats, their "cevabcici" is a must try — it’s packed with flavor and always cooked to perfection.
I did notice a slight price increase (around 5-10%) since the rebranding, but honestly, the prices are still very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes you get. The value for money remains great, especially for authentic Balkan dishes.
The atmosphere, with its retro, laid-back vibe, is the same as I remember — cozy, and inviting. It’s the kind of place where you can relax and enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. The decor complements the theme well and gives the restaurant a welcoming, nostalgic feel.
The staff here are as friendly as ever, too. The waiters are incredibly kind, welcoming, and always ready to help, which adds to the overall experience.
It is still one of my favorite spots in Budapest for excellent Balkan food. Even with the small price increase, it’s worth every forint.

After a month of living in Budapest, I finally discovered a gem that truly brings the flavors of my homeland to life. I had the pleasure of enjoying some exquisite pljeskavica and ćevapi, which were authentically Balkan—quite a rarity among the other establishments I've tried, including some Greek restaurants in the area. The flavors were genuine and vibrant, reminding me of home. For those of us from the Balkans, known for our hearty appetites, this place definitely satisfies! The portions were generous, and the taste was simply delightful.
I also want to highlight the wonderful service provided by Niki, our waitress. She was incredibly sweet and attentive, always wearing a smile and genuinely interested in whether we needed anything else. Her warmth made our dining experience even more enjoyable. If you're craving authentic Balkan cuisine in Budapest, do not miss out on this spot!

Read morePljeskavica was the smallest I ever saw. Very hard overburned and not tasty at all. Cevapi were bad. On the streets of any exyu country you could have better. Portions were very small with too much bread (that wasn't somun). Gurmanska was the only dish worth ordering. Service was very nice and professional. It is sad that they have good grill and nice place and service but they are missing the point. Food should be good. They can fool foreigners but not people who know how the food should taste and look. I'm sorry thay people will go here nad think that this is how our food is :) Now we understand why is always empty when we pass...
