The place is almost at the centre of the city and has a beautiful terrace which makes the customer feel almost secluded from the hectic pase of the centre. It has a rustic feel to it and the decoration plays with the traditional colors of Hungary.
The food was very good. The duck with the pasta and mushrooms was especially good. The duck was grilled to perfection with the outside being beautifully charred and the inside wonderfully pink. Personal preference would like for it to be a little less done, but the flavours were all there.
The mushrooms were not soggy and retained all of their original flavour while the pasta was a bit overcooked but nothing to hold against the cook. I would have loved if the pasta was a bit more drenched in the mushrooms but, again that is just a personal preference.
The desert was sublime. The apple strudel was filled with apples kuch that they were dripping from all sides. It was complemented with a wonderful teaspoon of bourbon vanilla ice cream.
The presentation of the food was at a very high standard and visually very appealing. The prices were extremely affordable and the value for money is really noticeable here.
The staff was respectful and accommodating.

Read moreAs others have said, the food is actually quite good and seems very traditional (which is what we were looking for), but be prepared for some of the worst service you’ve ever had. My wife and I had the 3-course classic and tourist menus as a late lunch, and waited for over an hour after finishing the last course for the check, even though we asked 2 waiters 3 different times that we were ready to pay. We’re only in Budapest for 2 days, and we wasted almost 2.5 hours at this place because the waiter refused to get our check. The place wasn’t busy in the slightest, and we finally paid at 4pm when we started the meal at 1:30pm. What’s worse is that we think the waiter was doing this on purpose for some reason , since the tables around us seemed to clear out fairly quick, and he was just hanging out at the cash register after we asked multiple time for the check (though we’re not sure why, since we didn’t interact with him aside from ordering, telling him the food was delicious, and asking for the check).
I would highly recommend this place for the food, but the abysmal service made this place unbearable. Maybe you’ll have a different experience, but you’ll have to take the...
Read moreShocking establishment purporting to be a restaurant. We arrived at this place at approximately 9:30pm on a Saturday night in May. We asked one of the waiters for a table for two and were promptly directed to a table. Within a few minutes another waiter arrived and plonked a couple of menus in front of us without saying a word. And that's as good as it got. For the next 30 minutes or so we were basically blanked despite on more than one occasion trying to attract the attention of members of staff. It looked like they were more interested is talking to friends (or perhaps clientele that were more regular than us) than serving new customers. Eventually we got up and left and went to the restaurant next door (ZaZa) and ordered our food and drinks without issue (despite the fact it was a good bit later now). We were enjoying a five day break in Budapest and had been eating out a lot and I'd have to say cafe/restaurant/bars were mostly providing a very good and efficient service. This place was the polar opposite. Maybe we were just unlucky on the night but as I write this my feeling and recommemdation is do not go to this place under any...
